Right now my dad, siblings, and I are trying to convince my mom to let us get a dog, but we have some things to do, like create a budget to convince. So, I was wondering: What are the NECESSARY things (including the dog itself and grooming stuff) for getting a dog, and how much do they cost on average? (Btw, we are looking into a Goldendoodle)

Grooming once a month : $25-30
Food : $10 per bag
supplies (brush leash coller etc) : $50-70
Dog: purebred $200-400 mix $100-150
thats basically it I would go to the pound and get a mutt. its probably going to be a better dog for a lower price.

If it's a puppy, it'll need shots. About 300 dollars. And I'm not sure how much a dog licence costs. Probably varies with county, anywho.
Toys, too. Probably a baby gate if you want to keep him/her in one room. And a crate, some people like them, some don't.

A dog is a big responsiblity. You got to walk every few hours if not the dog will poop on your floor or pee. EWWWW!
Too much. Dogs stinks no matter if you give them a bath. I am glad I don't have my dog anymore..

You technically don't need grooming. We don't get my dog groomed.
Supplies being food, dishes, treats if you want (those are always nice for a dog), leash, license, collar

brush, toys, bowls, leashes, collers, doggie bed, bones, flea coller, pincher coller, you'll probably want leather spikes all teenage boys do. But thats a start.
oh, you'll probably want an electric fence, if you don't have a fence.

Those sometimes don't work too well. I mean, if a dog sees a cat that it wants to chase, do you think it's going to notice a small shock after it starts running?

You need insurance too. For when and god forbid he needs an operation or he gets a broken leg.
i don't have a dog so i don't know what is the best insurance for a god(i mean dog ).

You're so weird, I have friends whos dogs just ignore the invisible fence thing. I guess it depends on the size.

I'm a huge dog lover, But yes, they are too expensive, And I'm on my own and have an apartment... There is no way I could keep a dog. So I have two cats, they are very easy to maintain, and they love to play with my hair ties.. and my bobbypins! very cheap!

We're planning on setting up a fund using money from myself, my parents, and simblings and situating a budget, and no matter what the cost, everyone except for my mom WANTS A DOG! I've waited to long to not get one soon!

Get your mom or whatever a really cute dog like a cocker spaniel puppy so and show it to her so she will have no choice but to buy the dog.

lol. No, she WOULD want a goldendoodle (one that doesn't shed too much) if she had a dog, and I'm not too fond of cocker spaniels
Also, we are quite busy during the day, not home for most of it, and my mom will only allow the dog to be in the basement (which is nice and finished) or briefly upstairs, perhaps in a cage  . That's a problem--spending less time during the day...Any helpful suggestions with this while having a dog like a Goldendoodle, which, yes, needs attention, etc?

Goldendoodle is part...poodle, yes? Never really seen one, but my dog is a cockapoo...she doesn't have a yard as it is, and stays in the house when we're gone, which is mostly all day long. When we get home, though, she's prefectly happy, and just likes to follow people around...she really doesn't require as much 'attention' as one might think. Though, I guess that also depends on the personality of the dog. Dogs aren't much trouble once you get used to having one around, they adapt pretty well to your lifestyle if you get them young.

Figured that there, but yes, Goldendoodles are Golden Retrievers and Poodles combined. They are smart, hardly shed, and often look more like Golden Retrievers, which is what we want. But they are quite energetic, like a Retriever.
