March 04, 2005
On April 2, Revenge of the Sith's family of promo partners will launch some of the coolest merchandising tie-in promotions ever conceived for a Star Wars film. Breakfast cereals, kids meals, candies, soft drinks, ringtones, and much more stand ready to be received by fans, families and collectors. Here's a look at some of the activity that will start soon in the U.S.
Burger King
Burger King rejoins Star Wars for the first time since 1983's Return of the Jedi collectible glass promotion. This time, collectors will have a go at a wild array of "super deformed" Star Wars character and vehicle toys spanning the entire saga. Their adult-targeted campaign will include a scratcher card game that allows players to "Choose Your Destiny" in which every card is a potential winner--you must simply make the right choice to win!
Masterfoods
Masterfoods, whose brands include M&M's, Kudos, Skittles, and Lucas, are giving fans a plethora of packaging designs to collect across their candy and snack brand lines. The M&M's brand will launch the Star Wars M-pire campaign which will debut the new dark chocolate M&M's and feature several new M&M's characterizations of Star Wars characters. Read more about it here.
Pepsi
Pepsi's activities will include unique Episode III packaging designs on their 12-packs, 24-packs, and 2-liter soft drink products including Diet Pepsi, Pepsi, Caffeine Free Pepsi, Mountain Dew, Diet Dew and Slice. Also, Pepsi is launching a Darth Dew Slurpee, in collectible cups at 7-Eleven stores nationwide.
Cingular
Cingular is offering exclusive mobile content consisting of ringtones, screensavers, wallpapers, and games.
Frito Lay
Fans can expect Star Wars-themed packaging for LAY'S Classic and LAY'S Wavy potato chips, including an in-bag surprise consisting of 1 of 12 exclusive sticker designs and in-store displays picturing scenes and characters from across the saga. Also new this year, for a limited time only, Frito-Lay will feature a Star Wars-inspired CHEETOS snack.
Kellogg's
Kellogg's "Fuel the Force" campaign will include their breakfast cereal, toaster pastry, waffle, cracker, and fruit snack brands with features such as Star Wars-themed packaging, game card boxes, light-up "saberspoon" premiums, cookie jars, plates, and snack bowls. Star Wars even get its own licensed cereal!
Keep checking starwars.com as the Episode III excitement heats up for more details about these exciting promotions, contests and premiums. |
This is awesome! I can't wait!

It wasn't as good as the originals, but it was an improvement over Episode 1.

I see...well I know that the general consensus of people at the office is not so much excitement toward it. People are going to see it of course, but not following things that closely...

These things sound really quite cheesy! I want to see the film though. I love them all, although the recent ones aren't the same as the first ones. Just a different style almost so its not that I don't like them.

Exactly. But trust me on this. This will be DIFFERENT. It will be WAY better than Episodes I and II.

Most people hate Eps. I and II because they've grown up. Lucas, on the other hand, at least with The Phantom Menace, kept the style as it was with the originals. Everyone hates Jar Jar? Well, tough, all the now thirty somethings got the experience when they were kids, let another generation have it...miserable gits.

You're right from a certain point of view. SW is generally for the young fanbase who love the adventure. Other grew up or watched LOTR for a basis and wanted more blood and killing. SW was never really about that. I think EP.3 will cater to all age groups though.
Im buying the book and reading it before the movie RM.

I know, me too! I'm going to finish The Cestus Deception, then read Dark Rendevous, starring Yoda, then read the Labyrinth of Evil (preceeding Episode III) and THEN REVENGE OF THE SITH! You should read Labyrinth before then, though

I loved Episode 1... it's what really got me into Star Wars. I watched the originals and they were cool, but when I walked out of Episode 1 for the first time I was like "man... I'm gona be a Jedi." So I became one

I still have a huge colelction of the Episode 1 character Pepsi cans somewhere. Those were awesome.

I thought it was a real ass of a casting job too, at first. But then I watched Episode 2 a couple more times and got to thinking... do you realize how hard it would be to turn Jake Lloyd into James Earl Jones? First off, Christensen has almost nothing to work with. And with nothing to work with, I think he did a pretty good job.

I haven't seen the original movies, so answer this.
Is Episode I to Star Wars as Star Trek V is to Star Trek? Or is it worse or better than that comparison?

Can't make that comparison. I'm not a big enough Trek fan

Oh c'mon! Episode one was good. Yes it was very childlike in many sense, but it was not bad. Some parts did not fit, but the movie itself was good. The political machinations, Jedi VS Sith, Anakin's entry into the Jedi and slow spiral towards the Darkside, the Clone Wars around the corner. This was a great movie. Some people were just angry because it had a few lighthearted scenes. Geez....

Did I say it was bad? NO, I didn't! It WAS good, but it was the worst out of the 5. The plot wasn't the best, it was childlike (although I can't say that's not welcomed), and it just wasn't that great compared to the others. But as I said, "It's Star Wars! You gotta love it!"

This is an awesome poster!
StarWars.com wrote: | Episode III Release Poster

[ Episode III Release Poster ]Last year, moviegoers were given a glimpse of Anakin Skywalker's future, as the specter of Darth Vader loomed within the folds of his flowing Jedi cloak in the teaser poster.
The theatrical release poster is now on its way to movie theaters. The new one-sheet is illustrated by Drew Struzan, continuing a tradition begun with the Special Edition release of the Star Wars trilogy in 1997. This new poster places Anakin within the larger framework of the Episode III storyline, with the main cast of characters -- Obi-Wan Kenobi, Padm Amidala, Darth Sidious, and the dark helmet of Darth Vader -- featured prominently.
As it did with the release of the teaser poster, StarWarsShop.com will be featuring new exclusives showcasing the poster art -- including the poster itself. The one-sheet will be available printed double-sided, with the reversed image of the artwork on the back of the poster. This is the same style of poster featured in movie theaters, where double-sided posters retain their vibrancy when shown in backlit displays. These are the same posters being shipped to movie theaters, giving collectors a chance to own the real thing.
Be sure to check out StarWarsShop.com tonight for all the poster-based exclusives by clicking here.
Episode III is almost here. Be sure to catch the world premiere of the Revenge of the Sith release trailer when it airs on FOX during "The O.C." this Thursday, March 10th and it appears online at starwars.com Hyperspace. Check out this story for details.
