They didn't screw it up, a big movie franchise would never be that stupid. Notice they called Gabriel a "he" throughout the movie. The reason he was played by a girl was to symbolize the more femanine angelic aspect of Gabriel.

No, a Hermaphrodite (2 sexes). In the movie "The Prophecy" the angel Uziel was a hermaphrodoite too.

Well in the comic Gabriel was male. but he's described as having a feminant look to him.

I would guess that Triam_Paris is right with his hypothesis.

I know what a hermaphrodite is, but I really don't think they were trying to pass Gabriel off as one. Like Link said, he was supposed to be sort of femanine in the comic strip and that's why they did that. Having Gabriel as a hermaphrodite in the movie would serve no symbolic or otherwise purpose in an otherwise very intentionally symbolic movie. They were just trying to make him more angelic.

I saw the movie today. It was awesome and Neo is GREAT as usual. I was a little confused at first, but caught on at the end. I loved the blending of Religions. Im actually a firm believer that all of Mankind worships the same God. We just don't know it. Anyways back on topic-Good movie. Great graphics, good acting, nice fight scenes. They definitly screwed up some stuff with the Catholic/Christian Religion and I don't like the fact that Louis Stevens was in the movie. But other than that? It was good.

I like that Shia LeBeouf is actually putting some more serious acting on the table. You can't blame him after having been owned by Disney for so long. I thought his smaller role in I. Robot put a younger touch on the show, but I definatly think Constantine was a more grown up role for him... for instance, we never see Lewis Stevens driving. And Louis Stevens gets really old. But Shia LeBeouf is a good actor and good for him for doing more.

He isn't a bad actor. I think hes a good actor and he has made good movies, although he was a minor role for most of them. I just felt that his charecter in itself was a little far fetched. A kid doing all that? I doubt that. Also they didn't delve into his history. If they had, maybe I wouldn't have minded him as much. I think I should clarify, I don't mind Shia, I disliked his charecter.

I think the hidden scene after the credits had a lot to do with the answer to that. Plus I think his character was true to his own age (he was born a day before me) so that would make his character 18. Not too far fetched at all, I don't think. But I respect your opinion, too.

Hidden scene? DANG! I didn't see it. What was it of?

You make a good point about Shia. He was cool in the movie, but I felt he was lil annoying in I,Robot and I think thats why I judged him prematurely. He was...interesting. I was just confused as to who he was.

Hidden Scene (spoilers)

Quote:
After the credits, there is a hidden scene. Constantine is in a graveyard visiting the grave of his recently deceased friend Chaz. Constantine looks at the grave for a while, then sets his lighter down on the grave, symbolizing giving up smoking due to the consequences he feels it has given him. Constantine says his goodbyes shortly and begins to leave the grave. As he turns around and walks away, he hears a noise that causes him to turn around and face the grave again. Chaz now perches on top of the grave with half-breed angellic wings about to span. His eyes glaze over in the half-breed angel style of white (as apposed to the red of the demons), he smiles at Constantine, and ascends into heaven.

My thoughts are that perhaps Chaz was a half-breed angel all along.

Geez, guys. What's with the not staying through the credits? I always stay through the credits...

usually I stay till the end of the credits, but I was with a friend who wanted to leave, and since he was my ride I had to leave with him.
