They don't say a time, and its the authors interpretation of Revelation, so not all of the stuff might happen.

Jerry Jenkins (the co-author) came to my church the other day and gave sermon. He's awesome.

They are post-trib, though, right?
("Rapture" post-tribulation)

Yes, the tribulation happens in the first one and then the books say what happens after it, focusing on certain people and show how things happen.

I'd never read them, as I assumed they were based on that someone was left behind during the "rapture," which I disagree with...curious: is it?

That someone was to be "saved" after the rapture, or the rapture itself?

I just want to know which part you disagree with,
I've seen the movies, and the people are all saved after the rapture. The Bible does say that that will happen, but it is also very clear what people, and it's not the ones portrayed in the movies.

For one, the word rapture is not in the bible, which bothers me. For another, I can't find where it says we will be taken away during the end times. The end times were shortened, yes, and Jesus does return, but not before the wars and all that good stuff. Besides that, antichrist very clearly comes before God does. Whether or not left behind notes this, I'm unsure, but I do know that there is the occasional church that fails to mention that there's going to be someone coming that will be very convincing in claiming to be Jesus.

No, rapture isn't mentioned, but "taking away" is. I guess people just changed the word to suit the feeling? Dunno.
And Jesus' return to earth isn't the same thing as the "taking away", either. Not that I want to get into a theological debate here at lovely STV,

Actually, a woman in the 1820's came up with the idea of calling it rapture, a story of which only further tarnishes the idea...and I would like to see the verse of the "taking away."

Quote: | 1 Thessalonians 4
13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
|
Quote: | Revelation 1
7 Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.
8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty. |
Two different occasions.

It doesn't say that it will be a time where people will be staying on after though, like the rature in the books.

I never disagreed that he returns, it is more the when I'm concerned with. For which reason 2 Thessalonians was written.
Quote: | 2 Thessalonians 2:1-3
Now, brethren, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering back to Him, we ask you not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as if from us, as though the day of Christ had come. Let no one decieve you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition. |
I don't see us being spared much tribulation.

And I don't see us going through it. But that is really of small importance right now. The main thing is the "coming back" part. IMO, of course.
