I stole Scotty's technique for making myself seem like a miracle worker on my computer jobs. I always multiply the time that I think a job will take by a factor of 3, when I get done in 1/3 of the time I estimated people are always thrilled.

He's one of my favorite Engineer's but not my absolute favorite I'm afraid. The guy that played him on the show had a slight acting problem.

I thought Montgomery Scott's idea for dematerializing people and storing them in the transporter for periods of time like he did on himself on the TNG episode was brilliant.
He also helped in designing the Enterprise-E which turned out to be an awesome ship.
Its a given fact the guy knew what he was doing in his time period and in the 24th century.

Hola!
Scotty was my favorite character on Star Trek.
He had some problems though.........
1.) He was a high functioning alcoholic. (He was a drunk and proud of it.)
2.) He got really fat in his old age.
3.) Had a thing for Uhura but never had the nerve to ask her out.
4.) Scotty is third in command of the ship, in one episode (the one where Kirk steals the cloaking device from the Romulans) he threatened the Romulans to a fight to the death if fired upon. The Romulans kind of giggled because Cmdr. Scott sounds like Groundskeeper Willie on "The Simpsons".
5.) Has been known in the past to replicate the famous Scottish dish, cabbage rolls with beans and his flactulence was so bad that it cleared his engineering room several times and once set off an alarm.
