That does NOT mean that he is racist! Why the heck does the man have to speak at an organization that has BLASTED him. Ever hear the words of the leaders of the NAACP? The President or whatnot (I forget the exact post...what's his name...Enfume, something like that) called him a member of the "Taliban Wing" of the Republican Party, and has BLASTED the President with HATEFUL rhetoric. There is NO REASON why he has to attend such a thing, and that does NOT make him racist! You clearly need some fresh air.

Really? Since you know oh so much, tell us how much time he spent with the "Christian Coelition"?
Bush has reached out to the NAACP. Its not his fault that they are bitter because a Pres. doesn't cater only to their needs. Thats too damn bad. They constantly berate and bash him. They're lucky im not Pres. or I wouldn't be as nice as Bush and open my mouth. They have not earned a meeting with him with their ignorant bashing of him. I don't blame him at all.
With your ridiculous mindset I can call Clinton a racist against Hispanics for sending Elian Gonzalez back.

Tell me one time that Bush ignored them and treated them like a 2nd class citizen. ONE time.

1. You are extremely radical on this thing.
2. This began BEFORE the campaign and BEFORE he did not visit them much. And it's his POLICIES they've been attacking! Foreign, etc! He does NOT need to meet with an organization that has BASHED him like this.
3. NAACP- National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. IMO, it has pretty much outwayed its purpose, and is only a tool for the left-wing Liberals now. It is not what it once was.
You just don't undestand the situation.

Okay, I'm going to end this HERE AND NOW. This topic is not to argue my beliefs about Bush its about the Canadians. I think its their choice. I don't think we should need one. Lets show a little faith, shall we?
Oh, and btw, I happen to be a left wing liberal.

That explains it
And okay, fine.
Now, keep in mind that this would be a joint effort, I believe.

I don't have a problem with the Candians not joining, unless it hurts us. If it doesn't then that is their choice and theyd don't have to participate.

you see, that is a wonderful, open minded comment. I still think that if we showed a little faith, we'd be better off.

I agree with that. I just think it's stupid for them not to

Why is it stupid? They don't have enemies like we do. Why should they use their money on something like that.

They are our neighbors, and may get attacked. They should have quality defense against those that would do harm to free societies.

Well if they ever gain enemies, it would be helpful. But you are right. The Canadians haven't made enemies. So they don't need to join it.

That's an interesting point in several ways. I was watching The Hour last week (for some reason I've taken to watching that show) and George Stroumboulopoulos was commenting on the missile defence decision.
If a country fired a missile at the U.S., and an interceptor missile failed to launch, there would be war. If a country fired a missile at the U.S., and an interceptor missile was successful, there would still be war. Either way Canada would be involved. Now, if a country fired a missile at Canada, and the U.S. didn't shoot it down . . . his words were, "We've made our bed, now we have to lie in it."
Martin said he wouldn't participate in missile defence, but he wanted consultation before the U.S. fired an interceptor missile. The U.S. said no (and they were perfectly right in doing so, Martin's demand was preposterous).
We'll stick to our spatulas and obsolete helicopters for now.

If they gain enemies, they could always ask the US for help, and I'm sure we'd be thrilled to lend a hand until they could get they're own system. We could share information so they could protect themselves, and that would do the dual purpose of strenghening our bond with our northern neighbor and show the rest of the world if you're our friend, you'll get all the help you need.

But wait--no. That couldn't happen--because America's a self-centered, evil nation that doesn't give a damn about other countries. *sarcasm*

George also said that one of the reasons the U.S. wanted Canada to join was because then they could show the world, "You see--nice, level-headed Canada is on board with this plan; they're behind it so you should be too."
I see nothing wrong with sharing intelligence and defence strategies, it is certainly in line with building a global community. I just don't think that ballistic missile defence as the U.S. is marketing it right now is the most viable solution.
