PostMon Jan 17, 2005 4:26 am    Constantine

This movie stars Keanu Reeves and its about a man name John Constantine who fights demons from hell.

Quote:
Based on the DC/Vertigo comic book Hellblazer and written by Kevin Brodbin, Mark Bomback and Frank Capello, Constantine tells the story of irreverent supernatural detective John Constantine (Keanu Reeves), who has literally been to hell and back. When Constantine teams up with skeptical policewoman Angela Dodson (Rachel Weisz) to solve the mysterious suicide of her twin sister (also played by Weisz), their investigation takes them through the world of demons and angels that exists just beneath the landscape of contemporary Los Angeles. Caught in a catastrophic series of otherworldy events, the two become inextricably involved and seek to find their own peace at whatever cost.

I can just see it now:

Reeves: *poses* (Turns to a Random Demon) "I know Kung-fu."

demon proceedes to turn in into conffetti proving once again he does NOT know kung-fu.

Don't make jokes about this film, it's based on a comic book written by Garth Ennis!

They seem to be basing a lot of movies off of comic books now, probably in hopes for them to have the same success as Superman I and II.

Anyway, this movie looks alright. Sorta like "Underworld."

The success of the X-Men and Spider-Man films would be more accurate.

I've actully read the Comic. The cast the wrong person to play Constantine. First off JC is BLONDE! And he has a haggard old look to him.

Reeves wont get that kind of look unless he stays up for about a week and a half straight.

Constantine is also British in the comic book, but in the film he's from California. Some things get lost in the from comic to film.

oh yeah, forgot he was a brit.

Even if some stuff is lost from comic to film, Character designs should stay somewhat the same.

I just saw the movie. Having not read the comic book series, I can't compare the two.

It was a good movie, although I agree with my dad when he said that it seemed like 'one long anti-smoking commercial.'

I didn't like the guy who played the Devil, my favourite actor to do that is John Glover from the shortlived series Brimstone. However a suave, sophisticated Devil probably wouldn't have worked in this movie.

The lighting was done quite well, as were some (not all) of the special effects. As for acting performances . . . I've liked all the Keanu Reeves movies I've seen, although I don't consider him a very good actor per se.

So I do recommend you go see it, I enjoyed the experience.

I saw it last night. I wasn't really up to going to see it, but my friend convinced me that we should. Just two things.

1. Rachel Weisz is much sexier with a British accent.

I didn't even realize it was her until she was dying (the first time).

2.

Flipping off the Devil
was the most retarded part of the movie.

Otherwise, it was pretty good.

Oh, I also wanted to say... I hope this isn't a spoiler, I don't think it is... Stay until after the credits, there's a hidden scene.
