PostMon Feb 21, 2005 6:55 pm    Technology Question

This year my Global Studies teacher has given us the opportunity to create extra-credit presentations for class. I want to create a short, basic 5-minute documentary comparing religion and Star Wars.
And for this I was wondering--is there ANY cheap way to add DVD clips to a short film (on Windows) using, perhaps, Pinnocle editing software? Please help me--I really want to do this. Thanks

Om, no, it's not.
And what I want is to compare it, like Anakin's mom being a virgin and Mary being a virgin, as well as the prophecy of the Savior (Jesus) and prophecy of the person who will bring balance to the Force (essentially a savior), as well as the Dao and Force and a few other comparisons.

It's probably already been done... but... as far as technology goes for the conversion thing. I use Dazzle hardware, but I think it was pretty expensive. It works really well, though

It is possible to do such an act through Pinnacle Studio. I have versions 8 and 9, let me know what you have.

I think it's 8. My guitar teacher has it, and I can load it on to my computer on Wednesday.

Mkay. Feel free to ask me any questions about it, I have some experience with it, but not much.

I can also do Adobe Premiere, HT Video Editor, Windows Movie Maker, and Dazzle DVC.

Star Wars is a franchise, which comes close to a religion.... Thats all i wanted too say. Use the word 'Franchise' in your documentary

As being a huge Star Wars fan, I can tell you that some people DO worship it as a religion. The Force is considered a way of life by some, as is Jedi.

Here's some stuff to help you on your way.

It appears to be a hoax, if you read it closely. But thanks, however this does not quite apply to my investigation. It is comparing the Star Wars movies to religion in the true, logical sense, ie idea of a savior, the Dao and the Force, and a virgin mother.

Few people are aware of this, but the Virgin Mary derives from Greek mythology, such as when Athena sprang forth whole form Zeus's forehead. This conncection was made through Luke, who was a Greek.

Luke wasn't a Greek! It's a different universe! And although that may be in Greek mythology, it is NOT "derived from it."

Indeed, I remember an article in our paper about a recent census . . . under religion, quite a few people filled out "Jedi," enough to qualify it as at least a cult following, eh.

No clue about the technology question . . .

I was one of those people who put Jedi down as my religion on the census

It was the only question you couldn't get prosecuted for

Hrm. Well, a friend of mine and I did something like this. You can, if you have the trilogy on DVD, copy the movies onto your comp, then what we used was Windows Movie Maker to put together the clips.

Maybe you're kidding, but I meant Luke in the New Testament.

But how do I get it onto Pinnacle? That's what I'm wondering. And it's 8.0, Defiant.

A film editing software. Somewhat high-end.
