I beg your pardon?

I've taken great effort to give examples for each of the points I've made.

For example, number 22 (Janeway wants to take Seven home to visit her Mom)...

I quote directly from the episode Imperfection here:

Seven: Bloomington, Indiana, your hometown. You've mentioned it on several occasions.

Janeway: So, what do you think?

Seven: It appears to be a pleasant environment.

Janeway: When we get to Earth, I'll take you there.

Hmm. No where in those lines that you quoted does it say that Janeway was going to take Seven to meet her mom. Unless it is stated further in the conversation, that is just pure speculation on your part.

Now here's a question. I have friends over all the time to hang out. Does that mean I want to have romances with all of them since they are at my house? Thankfully, no.

Now, I think that Seven's borg logic would have to take part in this J/7 somewhere. She would look at a lesbian relationship and see that it really has no biological use. Relationships are meant to be between members of the opposite sex to reproduce and offer some stimulation. She would determine this and find a lesbian relationship to be pointless. Now I'm not saying that it is pointless to the people who are, I'm saying that Seven's borg logic would most likely determine this because of the reason stated above. It proves no biological function or advantage to the species.

I suppose Seven does like to explore, but I don't see it happening.

And one more thing. If you're gonna pair Seven off with another female, at least give her a good looking one.

You better watch out for all those irate janeway fans beating down your door

True, lesbianism does not serve any biological function, but relationships are about a lot more than reproduction (things such as...oh, love?) I'm sure Seven's logical mind would be able to factor that into any calculations too. We know she doesn't exactly hold traditional views about relationships anyway, since she said to B'Elanna....

I fail to see the benefit of monogamous relationships

and...

By marrying, one limits one's romantic interactions to a single individual--a circumstance which implies extreme monogamy

How about 101 reasons why Janeway and Seven should be together?

1. Seven would willingly sacrifice herself for Janeway (Day of Honor, One, Dark Frontier, Think Tank)

2. Janeway would willingly sacrifice herself for Seven (Dark Frontier, Unimatrix Zero, Endgame)

3. Janeway is desperate to teach Seven about all aspects of humanity

4. Janeway just can't resist standing in Seven's personal space (pretty much every episode they're in)

5. Janeway just can't resist staring at a certain part of Seven's anatomy (again pretty much in every episode, but particularly noticeable in One and Hope and Fear)

6. They like to spend time their off time on the holodeck together (Raven, Hope and Fear, Omega Directive)

7. Seven liked Janeway's Da Vinci program so much, she ran it herself on her own...twice! (Raven, The Omega Directive)

8. They like sharing romantic fireside chats (The Omega Directive)

9. Janeway loves and trusts Seven so much she'll leave her to run the whole ship...on her own (One)

10. The look so cute staring at that astrometrics screen together, and Janeway loves to spend time there (any excuse to head down to Astrometrics!)

11. With her borg stamina, Seven would be able to go all night and satisfy Janeway's voracious sexual appetite

12. Janeway loves Seven so much she'll forgive her insubordination, in fact she thinks it's cute (Message In A Bottle)

13. Janeway respects Seven's opinion, in fact Seven can quite often make her change her mind with it (Latent Image, Dark Frontier)

14. Janeway just can't let Seven go (Dark Frontier, The Voyager Conspiracy, Think Tank...in which she actually said "I don't want you to go")

15. They remember special little dates about each other (The Voyager Conspiracy)

Could they not just be good friends?

What a lame thread.

It is clear that Janeway and Seven were both straight and would have no intention of going after each other. I would almost wonder why someone would actually post a topic like this except I realize that it is just people playing out their fantasies, which is gross, and need to be kept to themselves.

Agreed. And what's wrong with saying this?

Now, have you EVER THOUGHT that Seven and Janeway could just be GOOD FRIENDS, and like Rb said, a MOTHER-DAUGHTER relationship? My friends, they are NOT homosexual, and would never be. They are just GOOD FRIENDS and have a MOTHER-DAUGHTER-like relationship. The propostion that they are lesbians is just...Bah!

You're entitled to your opinion, and I'm entitled to mine. I just think it's Bah.

I think they have a mother - daughter relationship too. The only reason they work close to eachother is because Janeway severed her link to the collective and now feels she should look after her out of guilt.

you are assuming that she wants kids? if she doesn't then her borg logic would tell her to go with a female......following your line of thought....

and as i have said before janeway invades seven's personal space all the time and they BOTH look at eachothers attributes often through conversations....and repeating myself again if my mother looked at my chest as much as seven does at janeways and vice versa....i would get my mother arrested

and as for the guilt of severing seven from the collective....if there was any that is....it was put to rest in one of the episodes when seven told her she did not regret janeways actions

Here's what I don't understand: This is the J/7 thread. I see some very logical arguments, many quoted directly from the show, for this being a reality. At the same time, yes, you can interpret things the way you like. So why do so many people who have their knickers in a knot about it keep posting here? Why don't they go off and play in the threads that they like instead of the one they disagree with? What is so scary, hmmm?

I haven't seen any personal attacks, and I agree with the above. Nobody has said anything wrong here, so if you don't like it, don't read it. I don't see how it's all that complicated.

Anyway, I never really saw anything romantic between Janeway or Seven, but whatever floats your boat. I mean, people here are saying that you all are playing out your fantasies. Well to those people who are saying that: it's just a t.v. show.... Also a "fantasy." The fiction in Science-Fiction comes to mind.

Thank you, IntrepidIsMe. You made my point. I don't see any personal attacks, either. However, some of us see something completely different than a "mother/daughter" relationship...that's the point of this thread. If you didn't see it...no problem. Some of us do. That's what we're trying to say. So thanks.

Yep, well said PMC. I am quite prepared to accept that some people see it as a mother/daughter or mentor/student (personally I prefer the second of those two!) relationship. However, I personally saw way too much chemistry between them to not start reading in that sub-text

23. Janeway likes to try and impress Seven (getting her hair cut just after she came on board, Year Of Hell)

24. Seven is so interested in Janeway, she likes to dip into her personal logs from time to time (Vis a Vis, Bliss)

25. Janeway is so interested in Seven she likes to pretend she's borg too sometimes (in the alcove in Raven, Unimatrix Zero)

Ah, yes, good one, casper...

26. Janeway finds herself magnetically drawn into Seven's personal space (The Void (the one you mentioned), plus numerous other instances such as Drone, The Omega Directive, Prey, Hope and Fear, One...)

29. Seven likes to visit Janeway's quarters late at night to try and catch her in a state of undress (Latent Image, Child's Play)

30. When Janeway has more than one person in her quarters it's Seven that she chooses to sit next to/stand by (11:59)

Plus the imprint on Janeway's thigh is exactly the shape of the implant on Seven's hand ...
