You don't understand that it's NOT simply religious. It's all the LEGAL things--legal in the EYES OF THE GOVERNMENT. That's my main beef.

Well, what training to you suggest? It's not as if you need any training, after all, you don't need to know the laws about marriage, since things like divorce are settled by the court.

I've said it. The legal contexts of marriage, certain laws, etc. NOT the religion.

I wasn't talking about the religion anymore, unless you were responding to my responce to Kevin. Do the clergy recieve training about marriage? I don't see any point, really. It's not like they have any legal power to do anything about it if something comes up.

Yes, they do, in this case, I believe. And they need to be met, so as to insure a secure person, as well as discussed with, and told legalities and requirements, etc. It should be more than simply filling out a form. Especially meeting them and discussing, doing any necessary training, etc.

RM, are you an expert or something? I have an uncle who is an preacher and has many years experience. All you need is God's approval not no college and the world's approval.

To marry someone? To participate in any religious act--whether it's a made-up sexual one for something, like one thing on that site? Forgive me, I mean no offense to your or your uncle, honestly, but I don't really care what he thinks in this situation. Being able to become ordained online by only filling out a form--that's ridiculous. But no one seems to be listening to me. I guess I'm the only one to hear the tree when it falls, and when I try to tell people about it, it goes on deaf ears.

Um, I NEVER called your uncle a liar! Do NOT take mmy words out of context.
And no, I DO hear your argument, and they make sense, but there's more to it and I think that you are wrong, to be blunt

To be blunt, I think YOU are wrong And I don't need to be an expert on that to know my point of view and be able to make sound judgments. Are you an expert on many things politics, and Kerry etc, but make judgments without being an "expert," hmmm? During the election I was more of an expert on things like Kerry than you, so don't go crying about me being "not being an expert."

Agreed. Neither of us are right or wrong. We just have opinions. That's what I said in a PM to Rb.

Well, one should care, because you insulted--or MEANT to insult, depending how you look at it--SOMEONE, and you never specified who. I'd say that's reason for telling us who. Come on, you can tell the truth. Hey, if it's me you meant, whatever. That's just funny.
