I was stoned when I watched it, but it didn't really seem horrible, it just wasn't superb.

3/10 in my books.

After viewing it a while ago, I have to say I was not as disappointed as a lot of you were. I felt the episode had a decent enough plot and the characters were played out real enough for me to want to see this episode again.

This episode marked the beginning of the "Trip-bashing" episodes that would continue up to "The Aenar".

One big bothered me which I believe has not been brought up yet.

- Enterprise had to travel to an area of space where there was nothing within 100 light years. That calculation "Bothered" me because the math does not add up.

At Warp 5, Enterprise can travel 125x the speed of light (So the ship can cover 125 light years after travelling for 1 year.) If Enterprise had to travel 100 light years away from anything else, wouldn't it take 0.8 years to reach that destination. (100 light years / 125 light years) which also translates to 9 months and 18 days? (roughly) This is also assuming Enterprise can sustain Warp 5 for a 9+ month trip, which we happen to know is not possible.

Actually, I don't believe that is the correct warp scale. I don't have the right one on me, but I'm pretty sure it's different.

As far as I know, the Cochrane warp factor scale is

Speed = WF^3, where speed is measured in terms of the speed of light, thus how many light years Enterprise can cover if travelling at that speed for 1 solar year.

Thus:

WF=1, Speed= 1^3 = 1 ly.
WF=2, Speed= 2^3 = 8 ly.
WF=3, Speed= 3^3 = 27 ly.
WF=4, Speed= 4^3 = 64 ly.
WF=5, Speed= 5^3 = 125 ly.

This was also my biggest nitpick in "ENT: Regeneration" where the transport was travelling at Warp 4.8 and managed to put less 2 light years away from Enterprise. Archer ordered Warp 4.9 to catch up to the vessel. I have the formula written out somewhere, but I think it worked out that Enterprise should have spent a little over 3 months to catch up with that transport, not a few hours. Phlox should have been assimilated LONG before Enterprise intercepted the Borg-modified transport.
