And doesn't the packaging look great?

I'm not a big fan of the prices that Paramount charge for Trek boxsets but I give credit to them for the packaging. I've heard some fans complain that all Trek boxsets should be the same size/colour so as to make their shelves look neater ( ) but each boxset has been unique to each show. I just loved the TOS boxsets, gold, blue and red. The packaging for the ENT sets is so suited to the show.

Now, I wish they'd release The Animated Show, which I call The Forgotten Trek Series. It was very good, very true to the spirit of TOS. If they can't release the show itself, it'd be a good idea to perhaps release the episodes as extras on a future VOY or ENT boxset.

Yeah, the packaging is great! I too think that a series of Star Trek: The Animated Series would be awesome. Most prices are high, that's why I can't buy most of them , however, if I had more money I would. Not just because of the packaging (although it's awesome), but also because those were great series and I'd love to own all of them. As a matter of fact, that is my lifetime goal for right now, to get enough money to buy all the series on DVD (By the time they are all released, I may have enough money ).

They are expensive. I only buy TOS sets because that's a show I like to watch over and over, for the cameraderie between Kirk, Spock and McCoy. I do like the other Trek shows but I have a rule about season boxsets. I ONLY buy shows that I will watch again and again, otherwise I'd be buying shows that would just end up as ornaments.

When you've saved, can you buy me some as well?

My advice to anyone is to shop around for the best deal. And, if you're patient, wait for the price to come down. TNG boxsets were half-price here in England, less than a year after release. Half price makes all the difference.

Great packaging, but alas I won't be able to afford it.

That's what I've been doing . Shopping around for the best deals and waiting for prices to drop . I know it may not happen right away, but it will happen soon .

I can relate! *shakes from lack of every Trek DVD set* Is it time yet? Oh, darn. I'm still filthy poor (at least poor enough to not get DVD's like that yet ).

I've got pretty much the same news as Starfleet Dentist but from a different source.

Quote:
Okay Trek fans... we know you've been waiting for this a while now. Our industry sources have checked in with the very first details on some of what you can expect from Star Trek: Enterprise - Season One on DVD! I want to stress that this is unofficial information - none of this should be considered confirmed until Paramount announces it officially. But... our sources are telling us that the multi-disc set (which is tentatively set to street in early May) will include deleted scenes, some 9 minutes of outtakes, and something called Enterprise Secrets, which we suspect are similar to the Red Shirt Diaries Easter egg featurettes from The Original Series DVDs (the Deep Space Nine and Voyager DVDs also had similar video clips hidden in the menus).

We expect that the audio will be provided in Dolby Digital 5.1. We've also been able to learn that the video presentation for the episodes on DVD will be anamorphic widescreen as we had hoped. Enterprise is the first Trek series to feature an original widescreen aspect ratio of 1.78:1 (all the other series are full frame, or 1.33:1), and the Enterprise DVDs will mark the first time a Star Trek series has been presented on disc with anamorphic enhancement for high-quality display on widescreen TVs. Just by comparison, other TV series to feature anamorphic widescreen presentation on DVD include 24, Alias, The West Wing and the later seasons of The X-Files.

How's that for a little news to brighten you day, Trek fans? Anyone else looking forward to these DVDs as much as we are? Now if we can just get some episode audio commentaries with the cast and writers, we'd really be cooking with antimatter.

Stay tuned...
