Just wondered if anybody had read either of the first 2 TNG "A Time to..." books. The covers look pretty good and I was just wondering if anybody had read them , knew what they're about and whether they're any good...

Yeah, I did, The delta Flyer. I've read A time to be born and A time to sow and now I'm reading the 2nd book of the series, A time to die. And I guarantee, they are GREAT. Everything is written so nice, that you can actually imagine the situation. Check 'em out

Hey thanks. I looked while I was away on holiday but the only one I could find was "A Time to Love" and didn't think it would be best to jump on half-way through.
I might order them through Amazon later...

Hey I'm Kathryn btw and a newbie
I took a notion the other week and got the "a time to" series, haven't started reading em yet (as I have a bunch other trek books to get through), but I'm really looking forward to them.
I'm on a real post series book obsession at the moment (DS9 & Voyager too)

Hey Kathryn. Wow, that must have cost a packet, getting the whole series!? Mind you, I did the same thing when I was reading the Star Wars NJO series lol.
In the end I never got the "A Time to..." because, from what I read, it got some pretty bad reviews. Having said that I can't comment on them myself because obviously I've never read them.
I wasn't overly impressed by the Voyager relaunch but I can heartily recommend the DS9 one...

It did! But I have poor impluse control and once I decide I want something I tend to make sure I get it
I also enjoyed the NJO series...as each of em came out so it probably cost the same. Did something similar with the discworld novels, although I managed to get some of them in a 2nd hand bookstore

I'm just really keen to read some post movie stuff, I never really read many TNG books before (Imazadi, Q Squared, Ohhh that another one with Q and Lwaxanna in it and a couple of others...), all of a sudden I want to read MORE! Plus...I'm not so critical about what I'm reading
Ive got the Voyager books to read and I agree the DS9 books are excellent (just finished the mission gamma series).
I believe there is also a new spin off featuring Riker "Titan" coming out later this year? Should be interesting!

Hoorah! A Discworld fan! My life is complete lol. Discworld books are the greatest! Though I have to admit I've not got the complete set - I don't have "Soul Music", "Lords and Ladies", "Interesting Times", "The Last Continent", "Thief of Time" and "Carpe Jugulum" though I'm hoping to get those in the near future.
I only got into the NJO as the hardback of Destiny's Way was being released. I ended up going into town to get the first book to see what they were like when I saw that they were all "3 for 2" so I figured that I wouldn't get them any cheaper. I really enjoyed the series though - Tahiri has become my favourite Star Wars character; better than any in the films I think lol.
Anyway after I'd got up to Destiny's Way, I had a massive pile of books piled by my bed. I slowly got through them all, just in time for the next one to come out. After that I got them as and when they were released.
But anyway after reading the NJO, I realised that I enjoyed the Star Wars ones more than Star Trek - at that time, it was the level of continuity across the franchise that made that series stand out from the Star Trek books. That, and I found that many of the Trek books had inconsistancies in. I still read the odd Enterprise book and Voyager relaunch book (though I havn't read either of the Spirit Walk books yet).
And yes, I've heard that there is a Titan series coming out. Not sure if you've heard of it, but the website www.psiphi.org/ has loads of information on Star Trek books and includes excerpts and covers of upcoming books. There's a preview of the Titan books on there I think.
There's also details of a new post-Nemesis novel which, I believe, is due out soon. Apparently it sees the death of another TNG character. I haven't classed that as a spoiler because it is apparently on the blurb at the back of the book.
I thought the Mission Gamma books were pretty good. I didn't much care for the first one (was a little slow to get going I thought) but I really liked the last one - really set the scene for Unity. If you've not read that, I can heartily recommend it to a DS9 relaunch fan.
At the moment, I'm tempted to order the new Star Wars Episode 3 prequel book, "Labyrinth of Evil" but am unsure as to whether I should wait for the paperback released. Either way I know I'm definitely going to get the post-NJO novels when they're released later this year.
At the moment though, I'm reading Pratchett's "Feet of Clay". I've read it before but I love the Night Watch books - they're my faves and Nobby Nobbs is just ace lol.

I thought the romance storyline was a bit far fetched...madly in love after meeting twice? And you know there's just some people you just don't want to picture getting all intimate like

I liked the first 2 a lot, then 3 was pretty bad in my oppinion, 4 was ok, 5-6 were better, and 7 was awesome. I still haven't gotten the 8th yet. But I do like the series a lot.

I started reading the first one, A time to be born a few months ago. I stopped about a quarter of the way in.
But i picked it up again and started from where i left off. Read the rest in a day.
Its slow in the middle but gets better. Its actually quite good, nothing compared to the DS9 relaunch though
