seriously. it's not threatening to anyone in any any sort of way. And Founder's right, it's a movie made off a story in the Bible. It's not like I'm running around going "oh my God! They made a movie out of Series of Unfortunate Events! I feel threatened!" It's a story. just like any other story movie. what you take out of it is your own fault.

This was an interesting movie. I knew athiests and or other Religions would be in here to *beep* about the movie. Catholics/Christians can't do anything without them *beep*. Its a movie based off the Bible. Get over it. Don't like it? don't go see it. |
LOL - you should reread. This movie was NOT made by the Roman Catholic Church!
As to my "ridiculous" accusations - hate to disappoint you, but I have said not a single thing about the Old Catholics that you can't read for yourself on their website and/or publications. I'm just relating the tenets of their faith.
And - talk about judging - I happen to be a practicing Christian. I go to church every week and do prison ministry and other outreach. So don't try the "anti-religion" argument with me.

You make no sense. You're like "Mel Gibson has an evil cuase! Don't support it." What cause is that?

Triam, you're not getting what I'm saying. I'm not commenting at all on the story, the message of the story, the actual film - I don't care if it were a movie about Winnie the Pooh - the reason I wouldn't see it is because I am financing the cause of the man who made it, and I don't want to do that.

As I explained before, Mel Gibson belongs to a religious sect that is ultra-conservative. They parted from the Roman Catholic Church because they found the reforms of Vatican II and other developments too liberal. For example, the Roman Catholic Church no longer claims to be the SOLE path to salvation. The Old Catholic sect maintains that only their conservative form of Catholicism, which the Roman Catholic Church has rejected, is the only way to salvation. The Roman Catholic Church has also abandoned the idea of the blood guilt of the Jewish people - this guilt passing down to future generations. The Old Catholics have not abandoned this tenet. There are other examples, but you get the idea.

Whats your point? You hate the movie because of the beliefs of Mel Gibson? Who are you to say he can't believe in what he wants to believe? Yes, his views maybe strict but they are his views. No matter how outdated and close minded it is. Besides his movie does not reflect his beliefes.

OMG - why is this so hard to understand?!
OF COURSE Mel Gibson is entitled to believe whatever he wants! I don't choose to give my money to support his beliefs, but I've said nothing at all about muzzling him.

OK. NOBODY CARES IF YOU'RE SHOUTING. It doesn't get your point across any better. I'm sure it makes sense in your mind, but you're not making any sense to the rest of us.

You make a good point. You don' have to see the movie if oyu don't want to. It is YOUR money and your life. My grief is that the movie has nothing to do with your hatred for him. Although if you feel your money will go straight into his pockets, then you are right not to see it. Thats why I don't want to see Farenheight 9/11. I don't want my money going to Moore's Mcdonald's stash.

Thank you. I'm glad someone gets my point.
Oh - and, by the way - I never said I hate Mel Gibson. And I don't hate him. I've never met him. I heartily disagree with his religious views, however. And, I also regret in some ways that I won't see the movie, because I'm very interested in religion, and would have found it interesting as well as moving. But I made the decision based on a principle, so ... that's the way it goes.

How can I say this.... that was freaking shallow is the only thing you and other people here able to do is to attack people based on their looks? Thats real shallow. Than again.... No one can really say they hate him for his movies or how they are done they attack the guy on his looks it shows how freaking mature you and many others (Who will remain nameless) are. IMO

Understandable. If thats who you feel then thats fine. I feel that it was a decent movie though. It didn't shake my faith, but I did enjoy it. It has a deeper meaning but my friend says he didn't like it because "Its bascially 3 hours of a guy getting the s**t beat out of him."
