Hello all; just wondered if anybody has Snake Eater - I understand it's out in the U.S. - and wondered if it was any good?
I'm not sure about getting it - not sure how the Jungle setting will work out...but knowing how great the other games are...
Well I just thought I'd ask, see if anyone has got it and see what their opinion is of it lol.

I'm a longtime fan of the series (since 1999) and while Snake Eater is a great game, it's not entirely what I had hoped it would be. Although it's great, and has some awesome scenes (paticularly a part of the game involving a motorcycle) the game just really felt... I dunno, pointless to me. Sure it answers vaguely who the La-Li-Lu-Le-Lo are, but other than that it just doesn't really feel that related story-wise to what happend in MGS 1 & 2. Okay, so it's a prequel, and I guess I didn't word that the right way, I mean we meet a young Ocelot, and we play as Big Boss, but after completely the game I really had to ask myself "Did I REALLY need to play any of this?". I would've perfered a continuation of the events from MGS2. It wouldn't have bothered me so much if Konami was releasing MGS games more often than once every 3 years, but I mean come on, the next game won't be out until 2007, which means the world will have waited 6 years to see some resolution from MGS2.
But enough complaining, the game itself is actually quite good. The overall gameplay doesn't really feel that different, although now there's no soliton radar, you have a limited amount of supplies you can access at once, and you have to manually heal your injuries. The game is also a bit longer than the previous two games, although I haven't felt as compelled to play through the game quite as much as I did MGS 1 & 2.
If you're a fan of the series, get it. It's a good game, on it's own merits.

It comes out next month in the UK and I'm still torn. I used to like the technology in the MGS1 and 2 games so I'm not sure how well I'll do without the radar. When I tried it on MGS2 without the radar, the results were...less than stunning lol.
Similarly, this camoflage thing (which I have spelt wrong no doubt) looks complicated...
On the other hand, the soundtrack to all the games has been one of the best ever I think. That bit where MG Ray jumps out of the tanker at the end of Part 1 of MGS2 was great I thought.
I'll probably end up getting it when they drop the price down a bit...I'm hoping that the Playstation magazine will have a demo some time soon. I don't normally buy it because its so expensive but for an MGS demo, well I'll just have to treat myself lol.

Uh, I dont like the game much. But I played it for 45 minutes, that damn battle with The End (crazy sniper dude). It was fun I guess, but hes evil.
I like eating goat. Those bastards deserve to get eaten.
And in the battle with The End, if you find the bird in the tree, you can shoot it, and he will come after you, and get all mad! It rules!
