I know what you mean - particularly with the casting issues but hell, it's Babylon 5 and I'll watch anything to do with B5 lol...

Lol, I think you missed "best" (or at least I hope it's "best" and not "worst" lol) out of that.
Well, I've read that Marcus isn't actually dead. If you watch the end of "Sleeping in Light", as it flashes through shots of the characters, Marcus' shot is of a cryo-chamber...still lightly alive but frozen?

He's dead.
The "frozen" thing....well, it went somewhere, but it was somewhere rather silly.

Lol ok. I didn't know if it was true or not, I just read it somewhere... should I ask what happened lol?
Personally, I wasn't too bothered about Marcus but I'm glad that he died and Ivanova lived. But then again, she left the series straight after lol so...
Is it true that Claudia Christian (Ivanova) auditioned for the part of Seven of Nine?

Well, if it's just that episode you're after, then you can probably pick the video up cheap on eBay. Or you could get the Season 5 boxset which is, I believe, now available.
Or if you're talking about the entire series, that might be a particularly pricey affair though well worth it in my book.
I think they retail in the UK at an RRP of 54.99 per boxset but they're rarely that expensive. HMV had them, last time I looked, for 29.99 whilst WHSmiths had a very limited quantity of Seasons 1-4 at 22.99 each - I thought they were a bit of a bargain personally.
Outside of the UK, I'm afraid I've no idea as to how much they go for. Though I suppose eBay is probably (like always) your cheapest bet.
Has anybody heard anything new about the supposedly new series of Babylon 5 novels that JMS hinted at many months ago?

I've seen the DVD boxsets in the UK at 29.99 per boxset though if you look online, you can find the same boxsets at 14.99.
I think they were 14.99 last time I looked on choices-direct - but I'm not sure what the URL is for that...

B5 is actually one of my favorite shows on Sci-fi. I like the way its plot develops although, before and after JS was captain it was a little slow, once he was president, it slowed down a bit, but I like the way the wrote the show. It was written with the end in mind...

The final episode of Babylon 5, Sleeping in Light is, in my opinion, one of the saddest things ever to be on TV...really moving lol.
Anyone who follows the series will know what I mean lol.

One of the things that i loved about babylon 5 was the everything seemed really disorienting and mixed up but then you watch it for like the next season and everything comes together. IT just leaves me gobsmacked at just how well it's been done.
Like in season 1 throughout that Delen was buling this weird model and you just thought she was doing it as a hobby or something but then it all comes together and Delenn changes. It little things like that that make it so great.
Also like in season 1 when they found B4. When i first saw that i thought it was one of the worst episodes and was completely messed up. But then i watched the episode in season 4 i think it was and it clears everything up. I just couldn't believe it. The way it was all brought together and to have created a story arc like that which was thought of in it's first year and then concluded in it's fourth. Now that really does show excellent writing.

Hey guys, if you want to discuss Babylon 5/Crusade more freely then join Alpha Centauri and talk there
(Sorry if this violates some kind of advertising rule in this area)

Well, I'm glad that this thread has survived! Thanks for the posts! After posting originally, I have bought all 5 seasons and the movie boxset and have watched them all.
The thing I love about it is how things from season one may not get resolved until season 4 etc. I just think that it's a great example of how well the series was thought out, and how much JMS treated this like his "baby" and not just a money spinner.
I don't compare it to Star Trek though, I think that they are 2 totally different beings. Although many may disagree.

I read somewhere that Legend of the Rangers is scheduled to come out in October on Region 2 I think. Having said that I haven't seen anywhere where it is up for pre-order...usually you see them up quite early.
At first I compared it to DS9 (space station, aliens, epic battles, etc) but after Season 5 finished, the credits on Sleeping in Light rolled and I was sat there feeling very sad (hey it's a sad episode!) and I realised, there's really no comparison
Of course I'm gonna get slated for that but it's just my opinion Everything flowed, none of this episode per week with few things over-running into the following episode. With Babylon 5, plot strands that you'd abandoned in the first season would come back to bite you later in the series. Plus it was so engrossing - you cared about the characters even if they were the most despised villains on the show. Londo's probably my favourite character despite going from hero to villain to victim throughout the 5 years (often more than once)...
