It's part of the DS9 relaunch... it comes after the two Avatar books, I think.

Yeah, because all the ones that left in "What You Leave Behind" are gone, right? And they have their new characters... Ro Laren, the Andorian guy, etc.

Cool, how did you get that?
By the way, the book is quite good but if you've not read the preceeding books, some of the characters may seem a little odd.
According to http://www.psiphi.org/cgi/upc-db/booklist.html the relaunch runs:
The Lives of Dax Marco Palmieri, ed.
Millennium Omnibus Judith and Garfield Reeves-Stevens
#1 The Fall of Terok Nor
#2 The War of the Prophets
#3 Inferno
A Stitch in Time Andrew J. Robinson
Avatar, Books One and Two S.D. Perry
Section 31: Abyss David Weddle & Jeffrey Lang
Gateways #4: Demons of Air and Darkness Keith R.A. DeCandido
Gateways #7: What Lay Beyond: "Horn and Ivory" Keith R.A. DeCandido
Mission: Gamma
#1 Twilight David R. George III
#2 This Gray Spirit Heather Jarman
#3 Cathedral Michael A. Martin & Andy Mangels
#4 Lesser Evil Robert Simpson
Rising Son S.D. Perry
The Left Hand of Destiny, Books One and Two J.G. Hertzler and Jeffrey Lang
Unity S.D. Perry

Well that's the order that they give. Personally, I think you'd be fine if you just started with Avatar - that's really the intro.
The "Millennium" series isn't particularly tied into the relaunch if I remember. It's just Sisko as a prophet recalling the story if I remember correctly. It's not first-person or anything like that though.
I've never actually read "A Stitch in Time" but it's good from what I hear.
Avatar is where I started and I've read them all except "Rising Sun" and the "Left Hand of Destiny" duology. I didn't much care for the "Mission Gamma" series (liked #4 though) but the rest are really good! Though, of course that's just my opinion...

All of these:
The Lives of Dax Marco Palmieri, ed.
Millennium Omnibus Judith and Garfield Reeves-Stevens
#1 The Fall of Terok Nor
#2 The War of the Prophets
#3 Inferno
A Stitch in Time Andrew J. Robinson
None of those are in the relaunch. Theyre just random stories.
I bought Unity the other day, cant wait to start reading it. I know SD Perry too, but shes hiding from the world working on her next book, so I cant talk to her.
