Oh, no, I wasn't talking about your posts at all. I just heard that some people were upset about the amount of help the US is giving, as well as the fact that we're even sending any help. The "hand" work is a good thing to consider--most of the roads were destroyed from the tsunami, so the supplies have to get there using alternate routes. It's important for the countries to try and help with that, too. I don't really see why a limit on the money is necessary, though. It's a good cause to put our nation's money toward.

I figured he was British, but still. He should not disrespect America like that. But I was yelling at Intrepid, a supposed "American." Obviously not a Patriotic one. |
Actually, as a British person I find that offensive. Well, as much as the table that Kyre put up.
I'm also just wondering if you have found a proper table?
I think the aid given by America is really good. As RM said, there is a lot of helicopters along with 2 ships. I heard the cost of keeping them there was about $2.5 million a day, which is a lot! I just said that compared to some places it's not as much in comparison to a countries total wealth.
And generally it is neccesary to give that amount of money to them, as all the aid pledged to be given by all people so far is about a 1/4 of what is needed according to estimates. I think if we were in their situation when for some of thm everything and everyone we had was destroyed in one day.

Does no one noticed the smiley? As Kyre and IntrepidIsMe put it. "It was a joke." Sorry if I offended you. I have nothing against the British. I was trying to prove a point more than anything.

Sorry, I was just pointing out the bias in RM's argument, as he hadn't condemned that, although it was basically the same thing. I knew it was a joke, I should have made that more clear.

Even if it wasn't a joke, which it was, I still would've found it funny. Notice, however, RM's reply to your joke.

Right, agreed. Sure, that could be seen as offensive and that's acceptable, but you also have to notice that he DID put the " ", but yeah.
Anyways, the US is putting SIX MILLION DOLLARS A DAY towards the region for the military, and that's NOT EVEN COUNTED in the 350.

This situation is different than that, but I never replied there. What did I say?

One playoff ticket will be provided for each $1,000 contributed before 5 p.m. EST on Jan. 12. Contributions will continue to be accepted through Jan. 30.
The Patriots, who have a first-round bye, will play either Indianapolis, San Diego or the New York Jets on Jan. 16.
Contributions can made through www.patriots.com.

This is why I love living here in the US so much. Sure, we may start senseless wars and all, but when people (or countries for that matter) are in need of assistance...the good ol' USA steps up to assist and give them the relief (or help) that they need. Once again the USA steps up to help...good job USA.

Pfft, other countries do too.
But has anyone heard what Russia is donating yet? Maybe it's better to be bitching about that.

Um...not really, but I never said other countries didn't donate; I just said that I was happy that USA stepped up to donate, instead of starting more pointless wars .

Are the millions being sent by private orgainizations being taken into account at all? I know everywhere I go there are donation buckets, etc... for the releif fund, and they are always full. Not to mention the flags have been at half staff for the last few days, which is an honor, a country lowering it's colors. (any country)

I haven't been anywhere except for schools lately, so I haven't seen that, but heck no. Of course it's not counted. Nor are the daily millions.

Not only are organizations sending money, regular people are going just to be going. I can think of at least 2 people out of about 30 from my church that are headed over there, just because they feel like it's the right thing to do. I'm sure there's people across the country doing the same.

On of the big problems with this is that they can just get in the way and cause more trouble. Not saying it's wrong, but if people don't have a clear aim a lot of the time it can cause more trouble than help.

No, this is not counted. I know a lot of money is being given like that. The same thing is happening here in Britian at the moment. Our government now has declared that they are going to give at least the amount the public gives. One or two interesting things are that a lot of the governments are promising money, but it doesn't mean the country's will get it. There needs to be pressure on them to pay up, and not that people forget about it so they can get away with it. Another highlighted problem is that this money could be getting used from other charity sources, so they aren't giving more, but rather money they might have used for, say, Sudan.
