Drug Firms Issue Memos on Michael Moore
LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Some pharmaceutical companies are telling their employees to look out for the scruffy guy in the baseball cap.
The Los Angeles Times reported Wednesday that at least six drug companies have released internal communications telling employees to be wary of filmmaker Michael Moore.
Moore's targets have included General Motors ("Roger & Me"), the gun lobby (the Oscar-winning "Bowling for Columbine") and President Bush ("Fahrenheit 9/11").
Moore, normally seen sporting a beard and a ball cap, has now set his sights on the health care industry, including insurance companies, HMOs, the Food and Drug Administration and drug companies.
"We ran a story in our online newspaper saying Moore is embarking on a documentary and if you see a scruffy guy in a baseball cap, you'll know who it is," said Stephen Lederer, a spokesman for Pfizer Global Research and Development.
In September and October, Wyeth, AstraZeneca and GlaxoSmithKline, the second-largest in retail sales, sent out Moore alerts, instructing employees that questions posed by the media or filmmakers should be handled by corporate communications.
Heavyweights Sanofi-Aventis Pharmaceuticals and Synthelabo sent similar memos before their recent merger.

Well, he's making a movie attacking the pharmasutical industry, so this is understandable. I wouldn't want him attacking the very small computer business that I'm attempting to start...

Jeff, it was an example of stereotyping, and how that it is a bad thing.
It was not an opinion...
"I think that Seattle would be boring because I hear it rains a lot." <--Opinion
BTW, a lot of Dems can't stand Moore, either, because he twists facts to suit his own purposes.

Sure, and you're one of the people who complains about stereotyping, right? I know that's mostly Link, but you've complained. But Theresa's 100% right.

Great. He always needs to find something to complain about. Typical Democrat, not offering a solution only b******g. I've never seen him offer advice on how to fix a problem. He only exposes the problem and moves on.
The man is a moron. Im not even talking about 9/11.
Quote: | Moore says his film supports the troops but then bragged to the London-based newspaper The Guardian that he had snuck film crews into Iraq to document improper acts committed by soldiers. He then gushed: Half the movie is about Iraq we were able to get film crews embedded with American troops without them knowing it was Michael Moore. They are totally f***ed. Last week Moore told the San Francisco Chronicle that he was proud of the fact that his film showed our troops as dazed and confused and paralyzed with a Vietnam-like syndrome. |

Weeks back, Moore appeared on Question Time, a British political debate programme.
The subject of Saddam came up and if memory serves me right, someone in the audience asked how the Iraqis should have dealt with Saddam. Try as he did, he couldn't give a convincing answer.
As an apolitical person, I respect the opinions of all. But I only like listening to constructive opinions. People (including some at work) who moan but offer no opinion on how to deal with a problem are not worth listening to, sorry if that sounds arrogant.
If someone were to say to me, "I think we should raise taxes" and then explained why they thought that, I would respect their opinion, even though I am against higher taxes. But I would not respect the opinion if someone said, "We should simply raise taxes. End of story" because I only wish to debate with people who can say why they think a particular way, otherwise it can lead me to believe they can't think for themselves.
