From what I heard before any quake happened there was a sort of uprising in Banda Aceh. Many muslims wanted to have their own country so they started small riot or something like that. Then the 8.1 quake hit and damage a lot of buildings. Then that 9.0 quake that lasted 5minutes struck day after and wiped out the town.

So a violent uprising is stopped by a massive quake and tsunami.

Uh, not necessarily. As I said before, one quake STARTING a Jihad against the "infidels" (Dutch).

I don't think the earth quake is what started it, They were probably being opressed, yadda yadda yadda.

No, no, and no, sorry, it wasn't the EARTHQUAKE. It was because the Dutch waited to give aid, and then when they did radical muslims stood up and proposed Jihad.

I'm going to quit updating the thread title now. I expect that the total won't climb much higher from the original disaster. It'll be starvation and disease that kills from now on, methinks.

Ok no offense man but don't speak Bull without researching it thoroughly, Indonesia was under the Colonial Fist of Holland, this so called "Jihad" as you put it was to resist the power of foreign rule, Holland only offered help because they needed to save the lives of their workers, If your US was under the Tyrannical Fist of a European Empire (which it once was) then your people too would rebel and fight (which they did). And Secondly unless Holland wasn't a Christian Nation at the time which they were, they would not be classed as Kuffar or "Infidels" as you put it, because they are Dal ar-Kitab (People of the Book) who are not classed as Infidels by non-Wahabis, which includes Indonesia.
