I just don't see how it's appealing. Watching people beat eachother up.... Just doesn't seem all that interesting.

Well, there's more to it's appeal than that.

It's entertainment. I and others don't just watch for the in-ring action. We enjoy the interviews, the showmanship, the promos. We follow the "soap opera" style storylines from one week to the next. We enjoy the larger than life characters and their many gimmicks. We like characters we can identify with. We want heroes we can cheer for. We want villains we can boo.

Most importantly, we want wrestling shows that elicit emotion.

You had Hulk Hogan in the 80's who, to me, was the WWF version of Superman. Everyone got behind him and watched him turn back countless challenges from dozens of dastardly villains.

You had guys like Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels who could tell stories in the ring, really draw you into the match with their superior wrestling skills.

And in the 90's, you had anti-heroes like Stone Cold Steve Austin who used to entertain the crowds by taking on all comers.

In a nutshell, wrestling is about wish fulfillment for a lot of people. Life is unfair at times. We can never seem to get one over on the state. But in some ways people can live their dreams through wrestling. I won't go into too much detail but let's just say one long-running storyline in the WWF circa 1990's saw Stone Cold Steve Austin continually outwitting and beating on Vince McMahon, the owner of the WWF. That's wish fulfillment for you, how many people out there would love to get one over on their bosses? Not many people can but it gives people a buzz to see a larger than life character do it.

I just find wrestling extremely entertaining and I am a big fan of it.

Eh, I started a topic just like this in here before it was locked for no reason... It was called WWE lounge or somethign along the lines of that.

I may be the biggest WWE fan on STV. I watched around a yera of WWF before it was changed but I have started to really get into the shows now adays, Raw being the best.

I really wish that both the brands wouold combind again, but they do have good reasons for what they did.

I'm bored so I'll just make up who I think should hold each title

Raw:
World Champ: Randy Ortan (They should have gave it to him longer)
Tag Team: Robert Conway & Sylvain Grenier
Womens: Amy Dumas
Intercontinental Champion: Shelton Benjamin
Smackdown:
WWE Champ: The Undertaker
Tag Team: RVD&619
Cruiserweight: Jamie Noble
US Champ: John Cena

*so bored*

Well since nobody seems to have notice my previous post in this thread I will elaborate. I'm not so much into wrestling anymore, as I've gotten sick of WWE, however I still quite enjoy TNA Wrestling (formerly known as NWA: TNA), in many ways it's a superior company to me, the overall wrestling is better at times, sure they don't have Chris Jericho, Kurt Angle or Triple H, but they have AJ Styles, Kid Kash and Jeff Jarret, Kid Kash being one of my personal favorite wrestlers. It used to run a 2 hour pay per view weekly at $10, but for the past couple months they've been doing monthly pay per views, and they have a TV show now (although I don't get it here) called iMPACT!

Anyway, it's got smaller production values and lessar known wrestlers, but I'd rather watch TNA over WWE any day.

I would watch TNA but isn't it only on PPV?

TNA also has Jeff Hardy, one of the biggest losses to the WWE.

I use to watch wrestling when the Rock wrestled but I don't see him anymore. He is too busy acting.

I've popped in and watched a few episodes, and he does make an appearance from time to time.

No, TNA has a weekly show called iMPACT on Fox Sportsnet, they've done away with the weekly pay per view system. They do have a once a month pay per view now, simular to WWE.

They show TNA Wrestling on Fox Sports Channel but its only like on saturdays.

Speaking of WWF I am a big fan of Shawn Michaels. He is such cool entertaining guy.

But wrestling wise I would prefer ECW and this wrestling was more hardcore but more exciting.

I just finished a search for iMPACT in my area on tvguide.com and it seems that I do not get the channel.

I grew up on WWF.. I am still a fan, I don't really tend to it much.. only when i know EDGE is gonna be competing... Now i go for the more realistic things such as... UFC?? hehe, now that is real wrestling!
