You know, the US is THRASHED by the corrupt anti-semetic organization of the Un, but who gives it most of its funding? The US. And we get NOTHING in return. There is NO reason why the US should stay in the Un and the Un stay in OUR country. NO REASON. Get out, get them out.

My gosh! It is NOT an insult, and it IS a World War. Zeke is right in his explanation of what I mean: It involves the majority of the world now. It IS a World War. It doesn't have to be ALL OUT WAR between pretty much every country. There are more ways for a WW. |
No, it's not. Look at the definition.
Quote: | A world war is a military conflict affecting the majority of the world's countries. World wars usually span multiple continents, and are very bloody and destructive |
Since the current war does not fit that definition, it is not a world war.
Quote: |
Um, I'll name, hmmm, ah, just 3 more countries: Spain, Russia, and Great Britain. Technically, everyone fighting terrorists or in the War on Terror, which includes the Iraq War, is fighting in this WW. Open your definition of a world war. |
yawn. Russia has been at war war Chechnya long before our "War on terror", But they're fighting Russia for different reasons then other terrorist organizations.
I love the generalization of "everyone". It's like peer pressure. "Everyone's doing it so you should too."
Again:
Wikipedia wrote: | What is a world war?
The specific qualities that make up a world war are open to debate, however, the following are a reasonable set of criteria:
Alliances
Normally, there are groups of nations on each side in two alliances or distinct groups.
In the American Revolutionary War, the sides were aligned between the United States, France, Spain and the Netherlands against Great Britain and minor German States. The Great War of 1914-1918, the sides were aligned between Japan, China, Brazil, Cuba, United States, British Empire, France, Arabian Empire, Serbia, Montenegro, Luxembourg, Italy, Romania and the Russian Empire against the German Empire, Austria-Hungary, Bulgaria, Croatia and the Ottoman Empire.
Happened on more than one continent
The Great War of 1914-1918 was fought in China, The Pacific Ocean, Arabia, Africa and the North Atlantic as well as Europe. The Seven Years War was fought in India, and North America as well as Europe. The Second World War of 1931-1945 was fought first in China, and then later in Greenland, Alaska, off the coast of Argentina, and in Africa, Arabia and North America as well as Europe and the Pacific Ocean.
[edit]
Great numbers of deaths
Some of the early wars may not have the totals of deaths as the last world war did, but compared to the number of people in the world during the early world wars, the numbers were large.
Wars not considered world wars
Some large wars that are not world wars, but do have some of the three elements listed above:
The Cold War
The Cold War, sometimes referred to as World War III, is not a true world war. Alliances were involved, as were multiple continents. However, this did not involve conflict other than through proxy wars such as the Vietnam War and the Afghanistan War. At no point did the Soviet Union and the USA declare war on each other.
The war on terrorism
The war on terrorism, though occasionally referred to as World War IV, bears little resemblance to a true world war. On one side, there is an informal alliance of nations, but the other side is an amorphous collection of individuals and small groups, none of which controls any land area. Further, the number of deaths involved is quite small. The war on terrorism have no battle fronts.

Quote: | Uh, sure...The UN is a CORRUPT organization. I'll name 2 problems, again. Iraq (Oil for Food) and Rowanda. Oh, and the Sudan. No success there, no good job. They KNEW where the $21 Billion of Saddam was going, and yet did nothing. |
Name more. An organization that has done good things for years cannot be found completely wrong due to two things gone bad.
That's like saying: "The NYPD ihas done bad things so it must be corrupt. Get rid of them because reform would do nothing."
Look at the good they've done before you condemn them.
Quote: | This corrupt of an organization CANNOT be reformed, and I don't want to play any part in the Un ANYMORE! |
What one person wants doesn't matter in a democracy. People tend to forget the good of something and focus purely on the bad.
Open your eyes and see that people dont want to do away with it. Many remember the good it's done. The humanitarian effort, the peace it's brought. You cannot condemn one organization due to one fault.

I don't agree with that definition of World War.
And there are MANY more things that the Un has done wrong. I was just naming 2 or 3.
--EDIT--
In my Opinion, Bill O'Reilly is right, for only the 15th time, in stating that the Un is Corrupt and that WWIII is happening right now.

That is absolutly insane. Has anyone even attempted a serious reformation with the UN. Not lately. You can't just go in and tear down an organization just because there is corruption within it. Hell, there is corruption in everything man-made, that just can never be completly eliminated. Give it a chance first. Sure there is bad stuff happening, and it is good to make a big deal out of it...but before we go about just dropping the UN completly, let's attempt some sort of reformation.
Besides, unless you just want to agitate the already high anti-American sentiment around the world, pulling out of the UN is without a doubt not an option. Do you just want to prove the world right when they say that Americans are crazy people who ignore the rest of the world and go about taking drastic actions just for their own benefit. I don't, but if you pull out of the UN, that is exactly what you are saying.
Finally, as for this sillyness that the UN is anti-semetic, well isn't that the whole reason that Israel even exists is partly because of the UN?

Alright, alright, I suppose that if they were to SERIOUSLY try to reform it, I would support it. However, I don't care about our international image if it means being in such a corrupt organization. And there is a key word with that last thing: Past. That was in the PAST. Just because a country (such as France) or organization (such as the Un) did something good in the past, whether towards us, etc, does NOT mean that it's all fine and dandy now. Now, if you look at how the Un's been acting lately, it's anti-semetic.
