Dentist, Priest are metal gods (ironically they have a song with that title), and if I had to name a "beast metal band ever" I think it would have to go to Priest, Rob Halford is the man!

Judas Priest would probably be my No. #2 band. Like KISS, I believe their music is awe-inspiring and can take you to another world. Heavy Metal can be a release from the pressures of life for me.

And I can say you have no clue what "Heavy Metal" is.
AC/DC = rock
Aerosmith = rock
Led Zeppelin = rock
Metallica = began as thrash, eventually became rock, then mallcore
Slayer = thrash metal
Judas Priest = speed metal
Guns N Roses = rock
Pantera = glam, thrash metal, groove, and many other things
Misfits = punk

Eye of the beholder, I guess, folks. Please don't fall out about it. To me, a band like Guns N' Roses is Heavy Metal but if someone else wants to say they are something else, I have no problem with that.

The fact that all you listen to is trendy billboard top 40 artist is something to be proud of? Try looking to the little less mainstream, and you'll find much more talenjt that isn't over-produced or marketed to appeal to the masses.

Well, I don't want to fall out with any of you because I have enjoyed your contributions to this topic. And I certainly don't want to see either of you fall out with each other.
Siege, you have good taste in heavy metal. Amy has good taste in music. It doesn't matter how either of you define "heavy metal", what matters is that you enjoy the music you listen to and enjoy talking about it.

I'd rather hear the heart and soul put into the music by some underground death metal band like Necropollis than hear something from a band who's sold millions of albums. It's not putting their "heart and soul" in it that's going through their minds, it's "Hmmm I wonder which songs would make us the most money as a single?"

Siege, why not just let it go now, mate? You have your interests and tastes, ACDC Girl has hers. Variety is the spice of life. No need to argue about what Heavy Metal is or what constitutes a great band.
Please, make up.
EDIT - There is enough stress in the world, it doesn't have to be like it. Why not get back to talking about what Heavy Metal bands we like?

You've got things pretty screwed up, I never bashed the bands you wanna listen to, I don't really care, I don't mind some of them. What I called you on was the fact that you think they're metal bands, which the majority of them, aren't even close to metal. If you heard some real metal you might know what I mean.

But this argument could go on forever. If Amy wants to think that some bands are Heavy Metal, that is her prerogative. Different people would define Heavy Metal differently, anyway.

Okay, that was never said by anyone but one thing you are being is immature. Like Dentist says, keep your opinion on the type of music these bands play, but stop pointlessly stringing this argument along and resorting to namecalling to try and make Siege look like the bad guy. Now would be a good time to return to the topic.

Confused, is more the word.
And Dentist, alot of things are based on pure opinion, however when an opinion becomes so widespread, it eventually becomes fact. Now, fact is, most of those bands, are rock bands. I can forgive those, but I'm really trying to figure out how ANYONE could confuse a punk band (Misfits) with being metal of any sort.
On a side note, the original vocalist for Misfits (Glenn Danzig) left the band in the late 80's and went solo, but when he went solo, he decided to go for a Heavy/Doom Metal typed sound, under the name Danzig. You both should check out some Danzig music, I recomend "Mother", "Five Finger Crawl", and "Devil's Plaything".

I believe Amy tried to offer an olive branch when she said "I'm from Canada too". Maybe. Heavy Metal is great, as the moderator said, we can return to talking about music.
