Thu Dec 16, 2004 4:11 pm Do you like Sir Paul McCartney's music? |
|
As I have mentioned once or twice before, The Beatles music is amongst my favourites. It sounds like a cliche but they really were innovative for their time. I consider The Beatles the "Star Trek" of the music world, if that makes sense.
I've enjoyed Paul McCartney's solo career too. As it's coming up to Christmas, have you head Wonderful Christmastime by him? A good song to get you in the mood for Christmas it is.
I believe McCartney is one of the best composers in the world, some of the stuff he and John Lennon wrote was just totally unique. The word "best" is not one I bestow upon anyone but I do feel McCartney is worthy of it. Whilst I believe his best solo hits were in the 70's and 80's, a lot of what he has done since is very, very good.
One of his best pieces is We All Stand Together from 1984, a song accompanied by an animated singing Frog Chorus. I was 10 when this was released but even hearing it today is wonderful indeed, it is a magical tune, full of passion, one that you can really immerse yourself in. It reached Number Three in 1984.
I could go on and on about McCartney, including how he has often transcended politics, as many singers do by singing in various countries around the world and, in some ways, becoming a symbol of peace and goodwill between countries. Sports stars are the same.
Anyone have any thoughts on him?

Don't be. I'm trying to smooth things over in the forum between you two.
You listen to what YOU enjoy. You define "heavy metal" as YOU wish to. Don't get upset. You do have good taste in music.
SORRY, Chocho, weren't trying to play moderator. We must have hit the "post" key at the same time.
