Recess

My mom teaches third grade, and yesterday I went to talk to her class about being a writer. I stayed for a little while after that and the kids wanted me to go to recess with them, but I couldn't because I had to go to class.

So today, I went back so I could play at recess with them, cause I love hanging out with kids that age - like, 3rd and 4th grade were some of my favorite years. The second recess we went out to, it was awesome. Practically the whole class was hanging out with me. So first we went on an adventure with a compass and found "the lost ruins of the basketball court." But then, they had to show me "the cave of doom" which was this little 4 inch dugout beneath the sidewalk.

So all of a sudden, I was just like... "Oh no, we'd better get out of here before the evil Dr. Chaotica returns to capture us." they were all like... "wha....?" and then I just got up and said "we need to find Captain Proton to help us defeat Chaotica when he comes." and kids are so cool, because they just catch on and have the most awesome imaginations, so one kid raises his hand and shouts "I'm Captain Proton!"

So it was so cool, because by the end of recess, we had the full Captain Proton cast - chaotica, proton, Kincaid (played by a kid named Kaid, funny enough), Constance Goodheart, Satan's robot... it was so cool. we even had parts of the playground designated as Arachnia's web and Proton's rocket ship.

But by the time we were really getting into it and Chaotica was capturing people and stuff, we had to go inside. So I told them that we'd find out what would happen next in "chapter 19". It was so fun though. I felt like a kid again.

I always say I wish I was a little kid again. being like 4 years old rocked. I would get on my tricycle and ram into the shed dorrs with my friend, and see who could pee up the tree higher... Not a care in the world.

Are 3rd and 4th grade 7 and 8 year olds? Because my mum is teaching that age next year.

I think it would be so cool to do that!!!!

The kids i was hanging out with were 8 and 9, so close enough, yeah.

lol. yeah. they told me that they usually played horses or babies (the girls did) and the boys played cops and robbers or soemthing. Cops and robbers was cool... but... horses and babies? lol. crazy kids. We used to play Jurassic Park, Oregon trail, castle, or whatever book our teacher was reading to us.

teehee, you guys are young. Pokemon didn't come out until I was out of grade school... as in- no more recess (lame). Kindergarten was aesome, though! We'd play Ninja Turtles. My friend Donnie would be Donetelo. I always wanted to be Michaelangelo, but unfortunatly I had a friend named Michael... so he got to be Michaelangelo. I always had to be Raphael. meh.

In fourth grade, there was this crazy kid named Tyler who decided he wanted to get married to this Pocahontas doll. So he arranged this big wedding, designating people as the priest, best man, etc... so one recess the entire fourth grade "attended" the "wedding" . The one playground monitor that we called "Red Junk" flipped out because she thought we were all massing together to do something horrible. it was funny.

no way... Michaelangelo was the coolest. I don't remember why though... he liked pizza the most, I think, and he was the most "dude"-like. and he had numchucks. or was that Raphael?

I liked the Turtles and all, but I was never TOO into them. It was always Power Rangers. Awesome. I don't know who was my favorite, though. Power Rangers, though, had Tommy's Green Ranger with his Dragonzord. Awesome. But you know this new Turtles cartoon series? It doesn't do the original justice.

Naw, in my days, everyone was completely into Ninja Turtles. Power Rangers was so... fifth grade.

I used to watch the original sometimes, though. I liked Billy, the Blue one. mostly because he was blue, and blue is cool.

I liked the White Ranger. My cousin used to have the gloves and dagger thingy of the White Ranger...very fun to play with.

Cool. One year when I lived in NJ, my friend from NY visited and brought over all of the weapons of the original 5 rangers, and they connected! It was awesome! (For the time, of course)

I love little kids. At my highschool we have an early education program, where we have a bunch of little kids. We also have a voulenteer program where someone signs up and is a "big brother or big sister" to one of the kids. So, I decided to try it out, and got paired up with a little boy named Samuel. So during my study hall, I get to go play with him. I swear he can speak klingon!!! He is the coolest kid ever. I would love to be able to spend my first two periods a day with him, but I can only visit him during study hall. My friends "little sister" is Jacqueline. She is another awesome little kid. She loves to read Harry Potter. It is amazing how our society thinks that little kids don't have their own little things they love. So on Monday durring study hall, I'm going to let Maria bring Ami one of my Harry Potter books. Probably Quidditch through the ages.
