Yes he does. He loves us all, even Osama. Even though he'll go to hell.

But they are NOT celebrating HIS BIRTHDAY. They are celebrating presents day, and that's it. People like Val want NOTHING to do with Jesus on Christmas, and so they are not celebrating his birthday. That's my point. If they don't even AKNOWLEDGE Jesus, then they shouldn't celebrate it.

so what? Jesus wouldn't care. LIke I said, Jesus wants people to be happy. If, for the moment, they're not hapy because of him, he's still happy because they're happy. right? so what ever happened to WWJD? Jesus wouldn't mind people celebrating on his birthday, so neither should you. it's not our place as humans to say what people should or shouldn't do about Jesus, it's our place as Christians to spread the good word. Telling people they shouldn't celebrate Christmas is NOT the good word. savvy?

I disagree. Yes he wants us to be happy, but he doesn't mean that you should celebrate a holiday that has no meaning to them.
If you don't believe in it, then you shouldn't do it. Do it if you really want to, but I don't think you should.

All I'm saying is that it's really not that Christian of you to be telling people that they aren't allowed to celebrate a holiday. Wh oare you to tell them they shouldn't?

I can say that I think they shouldn't, but I am in NO WAY saying that they should be forced not to.

Then why are you so adamant about telling them they shouldn't? It almost sounds like you're threatened by it or something. Just let it go, dude. How will it even bother you on Christmas morning when somebody a thousand miles away opens a Christmas presant and doesn't thank God for it?
All you have to worry about, well... is nothing. Just remember that one day every knee shall bow and every tongue confess.
And let the people have their Christmas, you have yours.

Exalya brought up a good point with that Easter Island thing. You all twisted and distorted that holiday to fit your needs, so why can't people who aren't Christian celebrate Christmas? Hypocrites. |
This is different. The pagans were a long time ago, and we are NOT taking their holiday and secularizing it--far from it. We are ADOPTING some of their customs and using them in our holiday, NOT taking an entire holiday and secularizing it. |
Oh please, it doesn't matter how "long ago" it was. That doesn't change the fact that you still used their holiday. It doesn't matter that you didn't secularise the holiday, that wasn't my point. I said that you "twisted and distorted" it. Which is EXACTLY what Christians have done. How can you say that you haven't? You've totally changed it's meaning and changed it for your own purposes. I'd say that people who celebrate x-mas, but not because of jesus, are doing the same thing as what you've done. |
Uh, no. We haven't twisted it. We've adopted many of their customs, etc but NOT twist. Do NOT take Jesus out of it. |
Of course you've twisted it. You totally changed it's meaning, how is that not twisting it? You've hijacked it for your own wants.

If you say so, I'm sure it inspires me...somehow.
Did anybody else go to mass today? If you're Catholic and you didn't then.... you've sinned. Good luck in hell,

Although you typed this in sarcasm and lack of seriousness, you have a very good point. There are really two sides to xmas, and people can take whatever side they want to what the holiday means to them.

So let Jesus and the meaning of Christmas be taken out. Right. Secularize it if you want, it's only leading to our downfall.

1. Triam was NOT sarcastic and NOT not serious.
2. There is NO "two sides" to the holiday. It is about JESUS' BIRTH and nothing else! But the secularists don't give a damn. Heck, they want Jesus out of it.

people can make christmas whatever they want it to be. If they want it to be only about presents, if they want it to be only about family, or about the spirit of the holiday, or just about jesus, then that's fine. For real, RM, what difference is it going to make to you and your future with christ? If you really feel that strongly about it, then start spreading the word and love of christ like you're supposed to instead of insisting everyone spend their holiday the way you believe they're "supposed" to.
(and I wasn't being sarcastic, but the absurdity of it kind of takes the seriousness out of it for me)

Okay, fine. Jesus doesn't matter. Forget about him. Whatever the heck you want to believe, let's just shut the heck up about it, alright? Huh? HUH!?
--EDIT--
Sorry about that, I'm just very furious about this now, but you ARE RIDICULOUS. Make a holiday ABOUT JESUS be whatever you want? Yeah, right.

Gosh, maybe he is just angry that people celebrate a Christian holiday without acknowledging or beleiving in the Christian point of it. What is wrong with that?

Quite Frankly, I think you're both ridiculous.
Yes, Christmas is a Christian holiday meant to celebrate Jesus Birth.
Yes, other people Celebrate it that don't believe it that way.
Quite Frankly, there is nothing either of you can do to change this, so why argue about it?
To be totally honest, I Think RM needs to tone it down a lot, you've been way overreactive to this. Triam has maintained his control decently, while you've blown up in his face, which is extremely rude.
Apologies are owed on both sides, I say, we end this here, with an e-handshake.

Well thank you, my friend. May God be with you.
And me, you just don't understand where I'm coming from. Otherwise you would know why I am acting this way, and why it is NOT "overreacting."

I understand EXACTLY where your coming from, being a Christian myself, but there is no need to explode at Triam like that. I do not wish to be dragged into this argument, all I want is for it to end. I have been in the middle of arguments like this before, and trust me, it ruins things for everybody, even those who are not involved.
