Sun Nov 28, 2004 6:23 pm William Shatner and George Takei |

I've never been interested in celebrity gossip, I care nothing about what happens on a set. I'd like to think actors and actresses can be happy but if there are problems, it means nothing to me.
However, I am slightly curious. I was told recently that there is real-life tension between William Shatner and George Takei. Is there any truth to that? If so, what is the reason for it?
Anyone know anything?

I haven't read anything about this and I read quite a few Trek magazines. I'm curious, where did you get this information?

From the website www.amiannoying.com
Whilst the website does poke fun at celebrities, 99% of the information on there is verified as true.

I'd always thought that there was tension between William Shatner & the whole TOS cast!!! (excepting, maybe, DeForest Kelly).

I've heard things about Shatner but I hate gossip and I prefer to judge things for myself. Shatner has always been very pleasant to talk to when engaging in debate with users on his official site forum at www.williamshatner.com
There is bound to be tension on a lot of TV and movie sets. Somtimes, the media blows things out of proportion or outright fabricates things. But I am curious as to this thing between Shatner and Takei.

According to Shatner's book, there was a "misunderstanding". He said he was just a very focused actor, and didn't talk much. Except for Kelley and Nimoy. In Takei's book, there is open hostility. Same with the last page of Nichelle Nichols. Tss, people who hold grudges... life is too short.

I see. Thanks for the information, Theresa. They gave us a great show, I hope they can get on.
There's no reason for any hostility. They all contributed during TOS era, particularly during The Voyage Home, a marvellous film which gives each of the characters something to do.
