Wed Dec 01, 2004 4:15 pm What do when u can't sleep. List 10 things. I can't. |
|
Ok, I need to know what all of you do when you can not sleep? I can not sleep or eat. I get up at midnight and can not go back to bed.
I take a hot bath, drink hot milk, counting sheep and trying to tire myself out online. Nothing seems to work. I hate going to the doctor.
It seems like I got a certain someone on my mind. I can not get him off. He did not call me today. Or email me. I am love sick for Charlie.

Take some cold medicine that has a drowsy effect and that should do the trick.

You would.
Uhh...I think. I sit in bed, and I think about anything and everything. I think about people, things, the future...I do that until I realize I should be trying to sleep, then I think about nothing. Then my brain shuts off and I sleep.

if you take benadril (sp??) allergy medicine, omg that knocks you out like no body's business. Here are some other things though that i find help me: hot chocolate. I know you said you already tried the hot milk thing. Another thing that's supposed to make you sleepy is melty cheese. If you made a cheese sandwich (just 2 pieces of bread w/ cheese in the middle) and put it in the microwave till it's melted, eat that... maybe that'd help. I think those sandwiches are DELICIOUS. Another thing you should try is reading - that'll put me to sleep. Heck, i never get enough sleep so i'm always tired, but maybe that'll help. Putting on a movie and falling asleep to that is another good time too!

When I'm worried and I can't sleep, I count my blessings instead of sheep.... (but not as often as Bing Crosby did)
Usually before I go to sleep every night, I take an ultra long hot shower... it's my proverbial hot tea (as well as my "morning coffee"). Then... well, I couldn't sleep a lot at the beginning of the semester, and my doctor told me to turn my clock so I can't see what time it is during the night, and that helped. But otherwise... maybe some red wine or a manhatten....? lol. or I just lay there. that always eventually works.

Throw open my windows in mid december, and bundle up in blankets.
Body temp drops, and you fall asleep quick.

I usually read, which is a BIG mistake, all it does is get my mind going again. So then I do like Mark, actually, lie there and try to think of absolutely nothing, or empty my mind and think about what it feels like when you are asleep. Generally works.
