Always skeptical of remakes but I hope the spirit of the original can be captured. If anyone can do it, Tim Burton can (Burton is on my Top Ten Directors List).

I loved the original, it's a magical tale, timeless and fun for kids and adults alike. It's a movie where you watch it and you are drawn into it's universe, forgetting about your job or that rent you have to pay. It's a very surreal experience watching the original.

I will say this, though. I thought the original was pretty scary. Them Oompa Loompas were quite creepy at times and I was slightly scared of that scene where Violet turned blew and began to inflate.

Still, a good film. Hope the remake equals it.

..... oh dear god....

I'm sorry, but dont Directors have anything better to do but butcher old movies?

Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka? uh-uh. Nope, that's not gonna turn out right.

I must say that i am quite interested to see it, but i agree with Link how they've been butchering old movies, or at least redoing them lately!

At least they went back to the original title of the book.

I think it could be an interesting movie.

But my question always is: Why do directors always redo the good old films? and not the bad ones????

Some of those movies that they redo turn out like crap too! Yeah, that's just my opinion.
