Well I'm approaching 20, I started reading comics when I was 12, and kept it up until I was about 16, I just sorta lost interest. I still pick up issues of stuff once in a while though, and my love of comics is actually coming back.

My love of comics has come back too.

If you want, check out some 60's and 70's Spider tales. The 60's ones may look dated but they're great fun. The 70's tales are a lot darker and stand up well today.

Did you ever reading the "Maximum Carnage" storyline?

Read, it, no, it was a few years before my time. However I played the (rather superb, in my opinion) SNES game based on it, I still love that game to this day.

Didn't know there was a SNES game of it.

It was a good story. It really did look like Spider-Man was going to throw away his morals and become as ruthless and as dark as the villains he fought. It did of course feature Venom and Carnage and was a great story, perhaps never being topped since.

"Maximum Clonage" had it's moments but the whole clone thing went on far longer than it should have. Hope they never resurrect it all.

You never played the game? Damn! I grew up playing that game, before I even began reading comics. It's a side-scrolling action/street fighting game, somewhat like double dragon, where you're dropped into a level, you walk along, and fight dozens of random enemies. You could play as Spider-Man or Venom in it, and it features scans of the comic books between levels. You fight bosses in the game like Shriek, Doppleganger, Demogoblin, Carion, and of course, Carnage. There's even a boss battle in the game where as Venom, you fight a giant robot that's guarding The Fantastic Four's lab, because you're trying to get a sonic gun. What's cool about the game too is you can pick up "super-hero icons" which for each one that you find, lets you summon a certain super-hero ally twice. Heroes like Cloak, Dagger, Captain America, Black Cat, Morbius, Deathlok, and others who I can't remember, when you summon them, they instantly kill all enemies on the screen, or in the case ofbosses, do a significant amount of damage. And in the final battle with Carnage at the end, you can switch at will between playing as Spider-Man and Venom. If you can get an emulator I highly suggest playing it, it's quite the game. The rock band Green Jelly also did the theme for the game, called "Carnage Rules", which appeared on their seoncd, and final, album.

I'll look out for it, thanks. I did have a SNES at one time.

Spider-Man has always had great games, dating back to the 80's. Now, it is the norm for games based on movies to be released but all those great Spidey games had no movie to inspire them. They were brilliant.

I liked a few Spider-Man titles back then. There was a Sega Genesis (Mega Drive I think it was called in Europe and Japan) game from like 1990 that I remember being great. There was also a Spider-Man game based on the 1994 animated series that came out on SNES in 95 that was also great. And of course, there was Maximum Carnage, which was a bright red cartridge and had a shot of Carnage over a blood-red New York City. MC's sequel game though, Seperation Anxiety, wasn't as good.

I think I played the Megadrive game. For the time, those games were impressive.

I think there was an okay Amstrad game from about 1984/85, I know that's before your time but the game was fun.

There were a few dud games but I can't remember what they were called exactly.

I've a good mind to get into retro gaming, this talk is fun!
