Sorry to disappoint you, but I believe Bush won by the slimmest margin ever as an incumbant president. And, the only reason he recieved more votes than ever before is because more people voted than ever before and America is more heavily populated than ever before.
So that argument really doesn't hold much water.

Om, ah...Clinton didn't even get 50% of the vote, so your arguement doesn't "hold much water."

Bush won the most votes of any president ever. He's also the first president to get more than 50% of the vote since Bush Sr. in '88.
He won this election (as he did 2000), get over it.

Well lets see, according to http://www.presidentelect.org/:
1992:
W.J.Clinton: 44,909,326 (43%) 370 electoral votes
G.H.W.Bush: 39,103,882 (37.4%) 168 electoral votes
H.R.Perot: 19,741,657 (18.9%) 0 electoral votes
Clinton beats Bush by 5,805,444 popular votes.
1996:
W.J.Clinton: 47,401,898 (49.2%) 379 electoral votes
R.J.Dole: 39,198,482 (40.7%) 159 electoral votes
H.R.Perot: 8,085,373 (8.4%) 0 electoral votes
Clinton beats Dole by 8,203,416 popular votes
2000: ((After final recount))
A.A.Gore Jr: 50,994,086 (48.4%) 266 electoral votes
G.W.Bush: 50,461,092 (47.9%) 271 electoral votes
R.Nader: 2,882,728 (2.7%) 0 electoral votes
Gore wins popular vote but Bush wins electoral
2004: ((which has to be taken from other sources such as FOXNews))
G.W.Bush: 59,459,765 (51%) 286 electoral votes
J.Kerry: 55,949,407 (48%) 252 electoral votes
Bush beats Kerry by 3,510,358 popular votes.
So after the numbers have been crunched, Bush did NOT win by most votes ever. Not even close to winning by the most votes ever. Clinton still has him by almost 100 electoral votes and 2+ Million votes.
Argument finished seeing as how no one decided to go out and get hard evidence.

I never said he won BY the most votes ever. Read what I wrote.
I said he won the most votes ever. PERIOD.
No candidate ever, has recieved as many votes as Bush did this time around.
Argument finished seeing how that someone argued a point that was never made.

Ok, read that wrong then.
Anyways, It still reenforces TrekkieMage's point.
Also you cant sit there and say Bush won by the most votes ever. That's the most rediculous thing I've ever heard. seeing as how The US grows in population almost everyday and how there are more people surviving that can vote, and growing to the voting age in 4 years.
Anyway, it doesn't matter. Argue the silly point all you want.

I plan to. Where do you get rediculous from??? NO one said anything about the growing population, we are simply trying to tell you that more people turned out and voted because of what they believe. More people surviving longer means BETTER VOTING! The people that are living longer know what we need in this country, and they vote accordingly.

1992: 103754865
1996: 94685753
2000: 104337906
2004: 115409172
That's an increasing trend? I'll admit population generally goes up, but '92-'00 had sporadic increases, with a sudden spike in '04.
2002's elections also had record turnout, and we know how they went. High turnout typically favors Republicans.

omg politics gives me such a headache!!! People argue and argue trying to sway the other's opinion when the chances of that happening are one in a million.
I have my beliefs.. great! No one will change what i think. i vote for who i want to. You can tell me all you think and what you believe.. fine i'll respect you and listen. Ugh, it's crazy b/c at dance people go on and on and on about this or that on politics and i'm like GET ME OUT OF HERE!! Like i said before though, i will exercise my right at a US citizen to vote, and then i leave it at that!
My friend Sara can go off on tangents about politics for hours though, and it's like... SERIOUSLY!! You sitting here and telling all this to me does nothing but waist precious oxygen - lol !!
Chill pill ya'll!! Chill Pill!

Cite your sources.
High turnout DOES NOT typically favor anyone. You cant possibly believe that. Plus, yes, it is an incresing trend. Stop being stupid.

Yes he did win. I'm not disputing that. I believe we were debating by what margin he won with.
And I do find it rather irritating that people are exagerating his win. It's really frustrating.
