What do you think about advertisements? Do you hate them with all the energy you can muster? Do you like them a lot? Are they a necessary evil or something else?
Let's talk about it. You can talk about any types of advertisements from radio to TV to magazines.
Adverts are a fact of life. I accept that. What I hate is the way they have increased over the years.
Take magazines for example. Year by year, there seem to be more pages of adverts in a minority of magazines. Okay, I know adverts are an important source of revenue but they're still annoying.
Adverts have also destroyed my TV viewing, which is why 99% of the movies/TV shows I watch are watched on DVD now.
In Britain, an hour long programme usually has three advert breaks. Soon, it'll be four, I bet. What annoys me is the way in which the adverts are inserted. No joke, I have watched action movies where adverts are inserted right in the middle of an action sequence or horror movies where the adverts are inserted during a tense scene.
Adverts, I like them. In moderation. Too many of them annoy me. But they're a fact of life.

I agree with Starfleet Dentist. I've seen some magazines that there are more adverts than articles in it!

I hate tv comercials! But we don't have That many breaks here thou. Maybe 2 in one hour or is it 3...? But we do have two channels whitout advertisements, so that's good. I almost only watch those channels.
And some filmmaker here in sweden has sued a tv channel for makeing these breaks in his films. I hope he win.

I think adverts are one of the reasons so many people have flocked to DVD boxsets.
I love the Rocky movies but whenever they're on TV, they're full of adverts. Worse still, it's always in the most inconvenient place.
I hear that it is worse in America. I've been told there are advert breaks after title sequences and before end title sequences. Any truth to that?

Yeah, nobody likes advertisements. Sooo annoying. That's one of the appealing things about XM, too. But I'm not gonna pay 10 bucks a month for it,

Yeah, me too! so filthy.
Over here in Holland we have 3 channels that don't have advertisements in programs. Always before and after. But well, for the younger of us, those channels aren't very popular (documentarys and stuff) so..
I really hate them. The only thing why they sometimes come in handy if you're watching a move and you have to go to the bathroom, or you want to refill your drink..

Moderate advertisement is ok... However, advertisement is money, so most companies are excessive with it in order to make the most money out of it.

The whole point of cable was to be free of ads, the theory being you pay for the programming via your cable bill. But look at where we are now.
