Yeah. I just didn't want anyone to call me a flip-flopper or something.

Yes, ALL in law enforcement ('Cept me, but Dad would've been killed before I was concieved), NONE have killed anyone, ALL have drawn their weapons, and most have actually fired at someone. I can't say I'm too sorry about the gun-slingin' convict a policeman kills. I WOULD be sorry for the unarmed policeman shot by the gun-slingin' convict. And yes, criminals would carry guns. I guarentee you, they would carry guns. You think knives are more humane? You think they'll let up because the police are easier to beat? No. Heck. No. And my family has never gone looking for fights. They get in fights because of who we are--law enforcement. In self-defence, I'll take my pistol, thank you, over the knife in my pocket.

1. I would love to hear you definition on "good people"
ehm... and for the rest of it... well... history is repeating it self. And my guess would be that you live in th US. It's a fact that they have quite a bit more guns, then here. I don't know, but I can't discuss this sinse I don't know your feelings or how the gun thing is overthere. I haven't even seen a loded gun. (And I'm glad I haven't!) But it sounds like you live with them. I just can't even imagin that! so, I'm sorry but I can't dicuss it with 'you...
And guns scares me! the fewer the better.

That is an entirely valid point, Anna.

I don't like them either. I wish we could return to a time when policemen didn't carry them and the policeman was part of a community, not just a guy patrolling it.

Sadly, those days are gone.

Yes, they should. All police officers should.

My feelings on guns? Love 'em. Loaded pistol in my cupboard. I shoot my Rugger for fun when I go see my father. M'dad's a gun junkie, there's a loaded pistol in every room. (Excessive, I'll admit, but fun) Guns are really not scary! They're scary in the hands of people who know nothing. I know how to handle a gun properly and safely. (And YES, you CAN handle a gun safely) Fear of guns is unwarranted, certainly with those who grow up around them. I've shot since I was 8. I don't shoot live things. I target shoot, because I enjoy it. My father lives in a rural area, and frequently visits the woods. It wouldn't even be safe for him to go without a pistol. And by "good people," I mean non-murderous. Such as most policeman.

Call me crazy if you want, but an 8 year old with a pistol is scary.

It wasn't a pistol. BB gun. Was just trying to get used to handling a weapon. Didn't get to use a pistol for a few years after that. It's not like I'm obsessed, or think everyone should know how to use a firearm. If you don't like 'em, that's your business. I, however, like the freedom of going out to the hills with my father shooting at targets for a while. It's pretty much a tradition that all of us learn how to shoot, and very well, at that. Been doing so for generations. Not to mention, when myself or my father tend to go into places where there's bears, rattle snakes, and mountain lions, I like to know that we've got some kind of protection. And yes, situations like that have occurred. As for policemen, they know how to use their guns, and they use them for the purpose of protection. Certainly doesn't worry me.

And, might I add, my family is definitely NOT the norm in America.
