Okay, I know Nemesis didn't exactly set the box office alight. But, hey, Paramount aren't likely to go bankrupt because of this.

You know, Nemesis wasn't too bad in my opinion. But it wasn't the best send-off for the TNG crew. I wonder whether they deserve one last hurrah, one that we can all be proud of.

Now, there will be another Trek movie sooner or later. It may be a DS9 one, that could be interesting. It could be VOY, that too could be interesting. Maybe we'll see a prequel or a Starfleet Academy movie, I don't know.

But I have an idea of what I would personally like to see. None other than...

...Q

Q has never been in a Trek movie. If there is going to be one more TNG movie, I can think of no better foe for Jean-Luc than Q. We could get a proper send-off for the TNG crew. And I know that many of you on this forum, myself included, have a soft spot for Q.

It is hard to write plots for omnipotent characters. And the sad thing was that Q could never ever be a truly diabolical villain because his omnipotent powers would ensure that no-one could ever stop him. But there were times, on TNG and VOY, that Q unleashed his dark side, the side we first saw in "Encounter at Farpoint".

I'm no writer, I don't know what the plot would be. I don't know whether Q would live, die, become human or something else. But I do know that if it were up to me, I would give the TNG crew one FINAL movie and Q would be the villain.

Good idea? Bad idea? Am I an idiot? Tell me.

Well, I think it would be a no win match for any Federation crew against Q.

if they made Q all bad Picard would fail hands down.

I agree, friend. That's why I said that, sadly, the writers of TNG could never make Q totally bad because no-one could ever stop him. It's a tricky thing for writers.

Q could easily wipe Picard out of existence but I doubt whether life would be fun without the Enterprise to hassle.

This is why we need a good writer to tackle Q. I want to see a final TNG movie and I'd love to see Q in. Of course, we couldn't have two hours of Q hassling Picard on the bridge and we couldn't have Q turning totally evil. We need something in between.

I can't think of a good plot for Q but I know I like him and I know that experienced writers may be able to come up with something. Even if the next movie isn't a TNG movie, I think Q deserves a role in a Trek movie, even a cameo role.

Perhaps if the writers had something happen in Q's world that took away what little good he had and it led to him almost doing a realy bad act which leave's it down to Picard to bring Q back from the edge?

Nope. Loved TNG, but let a dead horse lie.

I don't think Q should be the bad guy. Cuz that would be like mission impossible... only in this case it would really be impossible.
No I think Q should be the good guy and I think it should be a voyager movie

That is a good idea, Dave. Perhaps decrease Q's powers slightly but still enough to make him a threat.

Sorry but Picard and Kirk's horses didn't die in Generations, so they are unable to lie.

I'd welcome a VOY movie down the line and Q would be a good character. I'd just prefer TNG but I do think Q deserves a movie appearance, even if it is Spock VS Q, like the audio tape.

Maybi it could even begin with a Bang, Q out of control and out to kill after having been delt a wrong doing.
It taking humanity to make him understand that two wrongs don't make a right.

My favourite Trek movie is The Voyage Home which didn't have any violence or action in it at all (unless you count the Vulcan Neck pinch scene). That movie proved that not everything has to be space battles and explosions.

We've had so many different Trek movies. Philosophical treks such as The Motion Picture, The Search For Spock and The Final Frontier. We've had comedy (The Voyage Home) and action-fests like The Wrath Of Khan, The Undiscovered Country and First Contact.

My point is that the next Trek movie (when, not if, there is one) should be something different. And a Q movie, with ideas like you described, could be one that we'd all enjoy (unless you hate Q, in which case you'd stay away).

I see how we have chosen to pick apart my posts now. That makes me unhappy as well.

(Love you, too.)

I agree with you there. Make a ST VOY movie with Q in. Best of both things there.

Well, I've posted a similar topic on the VOY forum and it seems that more people would want a VOY movie with Q in, rather than a TNG movie with Q in. Well, if I don't get a final TNG movie, I shall sulk.

Just kidding. As Spock said in The Wrath of Khan, "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few."

I will say one thing after reading these posts...

You humans are so emotional.

I think TNG train is out of tracks. Even if it weren't... Q and Borg arches are so old, boring, and mundane that a movie based on them would make no money.

Agreed completely.

TNG had its run. It was good but its time to move on. Especially with DS9 and VOY still waiting.

Yea DS9 deserves a movie Personnaly I think it was the best series but whatever.....TNG was great, Jean-Luc and his crew had a good run and will live on in our hearts just as Kirk did, but it is time for DS9 to take its toll on the Star Trek Universe

Longtime members here will know that I think DS9 deserves it's own movie.

Getting back to Q, I wonder if he could work as a secondary or cameo character in a movie. Don't build the entire plot around him but have him play a small role.

TNG is super, Q is great and I'd love to see them together on the big screen but something inside of me is saying that we sould let TNG go. It's been around for so long and had plently of movies. I think the other shows should deserve a shot at the big screen.

I voted no.

TNG defiantly deserves one more movie, but I just don't think it's going to work.

Just out of interest, why do you think that?

Q doesn't have to be the villain. He's cool. I love Q!

I've never thought of Q as a villain, not in the truest sense of the word. He's annoying, he likes pestering people. But if you piece together things from the show, I think he went out of his way to help Picard at times. Why did he throw Picard and crew into the Delta Quadrant and show them The Borg - perhaps to give them time to recognize and assess the threat.
