May I ask what makes you think that? Quote: | granted his facial expression changed but the guy was already dead when he was decapitaded (SP). Jason was able to leave the lake on his own free will therefore he was alive and freddy wasn't. |

There is no real "winner" to say as this is what the script was done, however the person (name escapes me at this time) who directed the film did so under the deal that he could descide.
HINT:(*spoiler???) Quote: | The near end is in freddy's dream world (where the two leave the water in the morning) |

Ok,I said it wasn't a disappointment because it was the first Freddy or Jason movie I had seen. After seeing parts 1-5 of the jason movies, it is a little disappointing but not too much. Also,Jeff and Lord Borg are right. There wasn't one official winner, but Jason was holding Freddy's head at the end.

* SPOILERS *
I listened to the audio commentary for the movie; the director said that "Freddy winking" can be interpretated however the viewer wants.
I guess there could never be a real victor. If Freddy had won, Jason fans would be pissed off. If Jason had won, Freddy fans would be pissed off.
On the subject of VERSUS movie, I'd love to see Freddy VS Chucky. Okay, it'd be corny but it'd be fun to see Freddy kicking Chucky around the boiler room.

No, i didn't find it disappointing. Most people these days expect too much of a movie.
When they see a movie like "Freddy vs. Jason" They expect a good stroy, action, a thriller. But i don't expect that. when i saw that freddy vs Jason was coming out i just watched too see them fight eachother, how they would try too defeat achother and who wins. I don't expect anything from a movie except for the least (with some movies you get that.).

Interesting points, Lionhead. Look at some websites and magazines and some fans don't seem to know what they want. They want the definitive Shakespeare (even though they wouldn't know it if they found it).
You judge movies relatively. Watch something like the Police Academy movies and you expect laughs. Watch Schindler's List and you have a deep movie that will challenge your thinking.
Different movies suit different moods. If I want two hours of nonsense and entertainment, then I'll watch Thunderbirds. If I feel like something deep, I'll watch Schindler's List.
In the case of Freddy VS Jason, I liked it. I believe it presented them both as equals whilst at the same time exploiting their respective weaknesses. Freddy was king in the dream world, Jason was king in the real world. Their fights were very well choreographed. I loved the ending (it's open to intepretation, as the director said). It was a fun way to pass the time.
BTW, there are rumours of a sequel. Well, I think there will be a sequel (studios just love cash cows). The rumour is that the next one will be Freddy VS Jason VS Ash (from the Evil Dead movies). I'd give it a chance but I don't know whether having three people in a movie might be crowded.
Personally, I'd love to see the following:
Freddy VS Chucky (It'd be fun to see that annoying doll kicked round the boiler room)
Freddy VS Pinhead (I envision a battle between Freddy and the Cenobites; they could then form a reluctant alliance to combat a higher level of evil)
Freddy VS Michael Myers (I'd walk barefoot across hot coals for a month to see these two battle)
Jason Voorhees VS Michael Myers (The fact that neither character speaks could be a problem, but I'd like to see a battle)
Of course, different studios own different characters. Not sure who owns Chucky but Freddy and Jason are owned by New Line Cinema whilst Michael Myers and Pinhead are owned by Dimension Films.
Anyone fancy a letter-writing exercise to the studios, to see any of the above battles?

What can be confirmed is that New Line Cinema have approached Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell but nothing has been signed and talks between the two parties are very brief.
Reading between the lines, I don't think either Raimi or Campbell would be interesting in bringing Ash into the Freddy/Jason universe.

I guess Ash is a little to good for that sort of thing, although Ash did make a short camio in WaxWork 2.

Maybe.
I do like Ash, sort of. I think the Evil Dead movie is one of the scariest horrors ever. Evil Dead 2 is okay, but a little too comedic. I didn't like the third movie.
Ash VS Freddy might be cool, even Ash VS Jason could be cool. But having three main characters battling in one movie is too crowded for my liking. Unless two of the characters team up to face the other one. Hmmm, that's a thought...
I haven't seen Waxwork 2. Tell me more about this cameo, please, Solitary Poet.

Yeah, I've heard about the Fredy Vs. Jason Vs. Ash thing. Bruce Campbell has been quoted as saying "And if you believe that I've got some great oceanside property in Pheonix I'd love to sell you."
Since I am a HUGE BC fan I've been keeping eyes and ears open hoping for the anouncement of an Evil Dead IV.

I am a huge BC fan too. But I'd rather seen an Autoclyus movie. Or a TV show, even.

Basically the heroes of the movie find him in a dungeon severely maimed and chained to the wall with birds eating his flesh, the his ribs are showing through his open chested shirt. They get the chains off of him certain that its fatal but after telling them that its only a flesh-wound he introduces himself and walks of the screen and thats about it.
There is a two disk set in stores now.

Thank you, friend.
I am fairly sure that I have seen the first Waxwork (is there a plant that eats people in it?). However, I will have to get the second to see that scene.

Yeah, i've seen Waxwork too. It was good, al those stories packed up, a little lame sometimes but thats alright.
Ash is cool, i love "Army of Darkness" its hilarious. If you haven't seen that 'Evil Dead' movie you really should its a fun ride. But i do not want too see him fight a evil person like Freddy or Michael Myers.
Hell, i don't like Michael Myers, he's a whimp. I do like too see Freddy vs Pinhead or Chucky. At least that would be a fair fight. Michael Myers would be cut too bits in no time (especially by Freddy or Pinhead).
What about a fight between Michael Myers and Leatherface (from the texas chainsaw massacre)?

Its all depends on my mood as well of course. I expect the least, but if my mood is bad i can quickly think i actually saw the least. When i was going too watch 'Signs' i didn't expect anything, although from Bruce willis i do expect a good act. It sucked big time, i didn't even watched all the way too the ending. It was so lame and boring i just shut it off. But perhaps that was because of my mood.
