I really hate it when people try to use this as an excuse to ban gay marriage. Has it ever occured to them that, perhaps, not everyone believes in Adam and Eve? That not everyone believes in the bible and is a Christian? There's a thing called freedom of religion. If gay marriage is ever banned because of what the bible says, then that's nothing more than imposing one's own religion on those who don't believe in it.

Take a non-Chrisitan gay couple, for example. Suppose that their religion has nothing wrong with the joining of two people of the same sex in marriage. That's all fine and good, but what if then, because of some republican extremist, gay marriage is banned from everyone because of what his god says? Does everyone believe in the same god? Hell no! So why should it (gay marriage) be kept away from those people, like the aforementioned couple, who have differing views in religion and faith? I personally belive that gays and straights should have the right to marry, but if it comes down to the banning of it, let the churches make the decision themselves instead of taking away the right of people to practice and observe their own religion.

^ I agree. Freedom of Worship, it's in the Bill of Rights.

Might I remind you. Religiously, they are free to marry NOW. The government does NOT have rights over any churches. The only part of marriage that does not "work" at this moment, is the governmental recognition. If the church consents to marry a gay couple in a religious ceremony, the government cannot constitutionally stop them. There is no infringement on practice of religion.

EXACTLY. And need I remind everyone that Religion is NOT the only arguement that people use against gay marriage.

But it is an argument. It may not be the only one, but it's definatly one that is commonly used.

Also, I've heard some pretty flimsy reasons. Some people claim they "just don't want to see two people of the same gender have sex." and I've heard people say that they think it's just plain gross or weird to see gay people. Very immature.

I do accept that people believe that gay marriage is intruding on an ancient institution. That is a very reasonable argument. I just happen to disagree.
