PostSun Oct 24, 2004 12:35 am    Just watched Fahrenhype 9/11...

...wow.

Blows Moore completely out of the water, and it substantiates its facts using non-partisan sources, and quoting reports, articles, and the 9/11 commission's findings.

They really tore apart the spin that Moore made up.

The thing that really made me mad, was Moore's stealing of footage of American Soldiers, which he used against their will as a tool to oppose the war. One such person was a soldier who lost his arms in Iraq, who Moore twisted the words of, to sway opinion against the war, which that brave soldier still beleives in.

Michael Moore is a ruthless maniac, and men like him who HIDE behind our first ammendment and defile it with their lies and slander, deserve to be exhiled from the country they hate yet alienate consistently. The first ammendment was designed to protect opinions, not lies.

My gosh, Defiant! The truth has to hurt THAT much? Come on! It LAYS OUT Moore's lies and distortions and spin--and it is NOT just opossing what you don't believe in. It's opposing lies. And you can hate the movie, particularly because the First Ammendment protects freedom of speech but NOT slander and libel, and that's what heit is.

If you are talking about:

Alright, that is the TRUTH. I studied the Constitution last year. Technically, Moore should be in jail because he used his freedom of speech for lies and slander and libel. THAT is NOT bashing. And EVERYONE has the right to say that someone is right or wrong.

Alright, here's a 4-page summary for you and your friends of inaccuracies (lies?) in Fahrenheit 9/11.

http://www.davekopel.org/terror/59Deceits.pdf

If you want more detail, go to

http://www.davekopel.com/Terror/Fiftysix-Deceits-in-Fahrenheit-911.htm

Truth to victory!

EDIT:
This is from my post about the above links in the "Around the Web" forum:

Not true. It's NOT just "random dumbass republican shooting their mouth off." The one in the four-page summary? That's from INDEPENDENCE INSTITUTE, if you took the time to read the bottom, and the writer is a DEMOCRAT who VOTED FOR NADER IN 2000 and likes and dislikes some aspects of the War on Terror.

EDIT again:
If ANYONE'S believing what they want to believe and listening to the Democrats and opposing what they don't believe, it's Defiant.

I never saw heit 9-11, but I don't think I missed a whole lot. I almost died laughing when I heard that Michael Moore wanted heit 9/11 to be considered for best movie.

I know! I'm watching both movies today, and I recommend that you watch both and not just one or the other. No matter how horrible it may be.

Meh . . . I have no clue when I'll be able to see them. If the Movie Network acquires Farenheit 9/11, which it probably will because of its popularity, then I'll see it. I have no clue when I'll be able to watch its counterpart.

But c'mon, this is just some political satire. Harsh, grimy, and borderline slander it may be, but that's what political satire is all about--we mock the politicians, and they in turn give us tax hikes and poor healthcare. It's a perfect system

1. I don't think it'll just be popularity that will get Heit on where you live, but Liberal bias.
2. It is NOT just political satire. It is NOT just mocking of Bush. It is NOT that. It is a BRUTAL attack on a PRESIDENT! And it is virtually ALL FALSE! And it GOES AGAINST WHAT THE FIRST AMENDMENT is for. This PROPAGANDA film of LIES, SLANDER, DECEITS, and DISTORTIONS is DECEIVING PEOPLE! It is having an IMPACT on some people that I know--THAT's the extent of this horrible film. It's more than "satire." But then again, EVERY ATTACK is Satire, isn't it, Hitchhiker and all you Liberals and the ACLU.

Nah, the Movie Network is (ultimately) run by Disney. Now if it were Paramount, then you would have to worry.

Well I can't speak for the ACLU, but yes, it is. However, keep in mind that I haven't seen the film yet, and my opinion as to its extent of satire is completely based on hearsay and speculation, so if and when I see it, my opinion may change

No there isn't.

He claims that Bush supported an oil pipeline through Afghanistan since the mid-90's, that's not true. The oil Line Bush has supported though his terms as Texas Governor, and through his presidency, went nowhere near afghanistan.

Moore also claims that as Governor of Texas, Bush hosted a delegation from the Taliban, when in actuallity, it was Clinton who brought them on a tour through Texas, where Bush was never within one hundred miles of them.

Another blatant lie is that "There is no more terrorist threat", while in actuallity the FBI has at least stopped one attack in New York, on the Brookly Bridge.

He also uses footage from a Soldiers funeral, AGAINST the family's wishes, to convey the darker side of the Iraq war. He also uses an interview of a man who lost his arms in Iraq, against HIS wishes to show that.

Another lie was that Bush cut funding on the Oregon coasts' border patrol. While in actuallity, State government regualtes that border patrol, and Bush has no juridiction over it. Oh year, and who's running the government in Oregon? Democrats.

Another blatant lie is that Saudi planes were alowed to leave America after the air-space was closed, when the 9/11 commission's finding blatantly say that that didn't happen.

I could go on, but YOU are the one denying facts, don't follow a man, simply because he's a communist like yourself...

I'm an apolitical person but I do take an interest in things. I haven't seen the movie yet.

I haven't seen any of Moore's movies. Before I do, I want to find out more about him. I have to ask myself, what are his motivations for making such a movie? If I can find the answer to that question, I will feel better prepared when watching Farenheit 9/11.

I will say this. I don't know whether the movie will have too much of an effect on the elections. Maybe some effect but American people, like any people, are intelligent enough to get to the truth, to eventually see past any spin (if something is spun) and to make an informed decision on their own.

Are there any things in the movie that are FACT?

I would hope that you are right, but I believe that some people have taken an impact from the movie.
However, he is a left-wing Liberal that hates Bush and in his film it is VERY apparent that he hates America, hands down.

Also, I just finished watching FahrenHYPE! It is AWESOME! It gets RIGHT DOWN to many of the truths to the propaganda (but it isn't propaganda). I recommend that you watch it. And Defiant, I watched Fahrenheit. I think you should watch Hype. Get some truth.

I think I shall have to watch the movies as soon as possible.

Quote:

Hates America? Tell me more, please.

I have my own views on America, though.

First off, there is not a country in the world that has not got things in it's history that it would rather forget. America has done some bad things as has Britain or Russia or China or France or any country.

But I can always see the good in countries. Even those countries with evil dictators have good points. Often, if you look past the evil dictators, you see a country that could be so much more than it is.

I like America because I think it has much to admire. Entrepreneurial spirit, patriotism, an allegiance to things such as liberty and freedom.

I think America is a very forward-thinking nation, not living in the past. I think it has done much good in the world and it cannot be blamed for all the evils of the world. Like hunger for example. Of course, I think the West should do more to combat hunger and poverty in other countries. But I think it is important to remember that often, the fault lies with corrupt leaders who would rather spend money on arms than feed their people.

America has it's things it'd rather forget (such as Vietnam) but there is so much to admire. We only ever hear the bad things. When a big company commits fraud, we hear about it in the news. When a police officer or soldier or airman commits a heinous act, we hear about it in the news. But what of all the good? What of all the American people/organizations that do good in the world? What about all the good police officers, firemen, doctors, polticians, soldiers, airmen?

I can find things to admire in any country. But this topic is about America. It has done some good in the world and I think it's important that people never forget it. Yes, it has done bad, yes it has at times been led by Presidents that aren't up to the job. But I would rather concentrate on the good that it has achieved in the world.

There are videos that are shown of Bush shaking their hands, and touring around with them! Try watching the movie before you open your mouth.

I live in Oregon fool, and its true. Bush cut funding to the state, and as a result, they had to cut funding to the state patrols. Try actually researching what you say.

You're misconstruing what actually happened. The videos you see are not Bush with Taliban officials, they are of Bush with a delegation of Saudis. Another Moore-misconception

Did you watch Farenhiet 9/11? Seriously?... http://www.michigandaily.com/vnews/display.v/ART/2003/10/13/3f8a2589eee03
"There is no terrorist threat in this country. This is a lie. This is the biggest lie we've been told."
He even uses this footage in the movie

No. You're wrong. Federal Funding was not sut in Oregon. State funding was. Watch Farenhype 9/11 they go into great length of this.

Extreme liberal... Communist... basically the same thing. One who does not beleive in freedom, and exposes people to lies, and attempts to force it on them as fact.

There are videos that are shown of Bush shaking their hands, and touring around with them! Try watching the movie before you open your mouth.

You're misconstruing what actually happened. The videos you see are not Bush with Taliban officials, they are of Bush with a delegation of Saudis. Another Moore-misconception

lol, EXACTLY. Why do you have to beat me to the punch all the time now ?

That was never said. He never said there was no more terrorist threat.

"There is no terrorist threat in this country. This is a lie. This is the biggest lie we've been told."
He even uses this footage in the movie

EXACTLY. However, he doesn't use that footage. It's in Fahrenhype of him stating that quote, but yes, that is the TRUTH. HE DID SAY THAT.

I live in Oregon fool, and its true. Bush cut funding to the state, and as a result, they had to cut funding to the state patrols. Try actually researching what you say.

No. You're wrong. Federal Funding was not sut in Oregon. State funding was. Watch Farenhype 9/11 they go into great length of this.

EXACTLY.
