PostSun Oct 24, 2004 2:43 am    Who is really using scare tactics?

Well as Ive heard on FOX NEWS the RNC Chairman ED Gillespe is saying that kerry is using lies as scare tactics too take away voters from bush.

Well they also showed several videos of bush and cheney saying things like "another terrorist attack might happen?" "they might use nuclear weapons"

So the President is saying if Kerry is elected the United States will get bombed by terrorist again?

So tell me republicans if this is not scare tactics?

As ED says its just facts.....actual facts no way...

Both are doing bad things.
However, the Dems are doing more than those two things. Allow me to chronicle it:
1. Kerry is accusing Bush of planning a draft, which is NOT true.
2. Kerry is accusing Bush of saying that he wants to privatise Social Security and has MADE UP LINES from Bush, and that's just NOT ture.
3. The Democrat organization "America Coming Together" has a fliar out that they're giving to African Americans. And do you know what that fliar has on it? A picture of the old 60's Hose firing at an African American. It talks about, "This is what the Republicans did to African Americans last time," and "this is what they're going to do again," and things like that. Now tell me how that is NOT outrageous! WHY do the Democrats keep having to use the race card? WHY?
4. The ACLU--ACLU--wants to watch over the elections!
5. There's more, and I'll chronicle it for you.

Probably because 90% of Black people vote democrat, so they want to keep this percentage?

Actually, it's improved from 9% for Bush in 2000 to 18% for Bush, actually, according to a Rassmun poll (or however you spell it)
But yeah, OBVIOUSLY they want to keep the percentage, but through scare tactics.

Both sides are fearmongering this election. The "War on Terrorism" is in the forefront of people's minds, which is why the Republicans are generally credited with their slight lead, since traditionally they have done better on the international front while the Democrats focus more on the domestic front. Like I've said before, it's both amusing and sad to see such tactics being flung about in the election.

Fearmongering isn't wrong, but it is unsavory. I can understand why politicians use fear as a tool, especially in these times, but that doesn't mean I like it. But this election is the heaviest on fear mongering that I've seen. Admittedly, I was in Grade 6 when I saw the 2000 election, but I was still intelligent enough back then to know what "fearmongering" was and why "Florida" was so important. However, comparing the US election to the recent Canadian one, it seems like politics are getting dirtier all the time . . .

I find that the Republicans base the entire war on terror and iraq on fear. If they can keep the american people fearful, they can continue to justify their actions, based on that fear. Which is wrong. Thats why the terror alert level always goes up, and you always hear about it, but nothing ever happens. They keep you fearful, and you dont disagree with their actions.

Hmm . . . I wonder what the terror alert level will escalate to after they've reached red . . .

The Beer Alert system idea for Canada is a good idea, eh, and I think we should adopt it.

Both sides are being horrible.

It was noticed a while ago that whenever Kerry's ratings went up the terror level rose...Hmm....

Both sides are twisting words out of context and making it sound like they are saying things they don't mean, I find this disgusting.

I got a Republican letter recently, saying that the Democrats were about to launch a horrible and untrue campaign against them. I found this sickening. I haden't seen any Democrat comercials, but I'd seen plenty of Bush ads. And those were nausiating.

An observation:

I have never seen a Bush ad that outlined what Bush was going to do right, only what Kerry was going to do wrong.

I've seen several Kerry ads by now, yes there are seveal that are negitive torwards Bush and saying what he's doing wrong. But he does have several ads explaining his policies, and what Kerry is going to do right.

Bush: 95-100% negitive ads
Kerry:50/50% positive and negitive ads

It's a shame, what goes on in the world.

I'm apolitical but I know a lot of people follow a particular ideology, whether it be capitalism, socialism or something else.

However, different ideologies aside, we're all pretty much the same. We all want the same things. A regular wage, job security, a good education, food, warmth, security. It's a shame we can't have peace.

No-one will ever agree on anything but things such as wanting job security and a good education transcend any political ideology. It's a shame we can't all get along.

Both sides just air propaganda, anyone who listens to any of these campaign commercials needs to actually think before they beleive either side...no matter who it is coming from-Bush or Kerry- it is BS.

That's just what I've seen. I'd really be interested in seeing all of the presidential ads to get a real perspective on the whole thing.

It's not an official count.

I just get a kick from watching the two opposing sides posting "No, it's the other way around" and "That's not TRUE" at each other's statements . . . I can just imagine out there a Republican or Democrat looking at this topic: fists balled, teeth clenched, face red with rage over the "slanderous and untrue propaganda" by their counterparts . . .

Reality has certainly become distorted these days.

He didn't say you used Moore's "facts", he compared you to Moore. Probably, because you both have no respect for anything.

Here's an analogy from Georgia Democratic Senator Zell Miller:

You're in your back yard, and you find a nest of baby copperheads (poisonous snakes). Do you go to your city council for authority to kill them? Do you wait for them to hurt someone before you retalliate? Or you you geta hoe and chop their heads of there and now, before they hurt you, your family, or anyone.

Sadam Hussein is those baby snakes. He may not have the power to hurt us now, but we know he wants to, and as the president of a nation which has billions of dollars to fund his vendetta, he will someday have that power. We need to stop him NOW. We shouldn't wait for him to kill any of us first.

Sure, Defiant. And John Kerry's gonna be elected President.
But anyways, Lightningboy, watching that on FahrenHYPE was GREAT! That was a TERRIFIC analogy!

Seriously now, Saddam never attacked us. He never threatened to attack us. He didnt have weapons, his weapons program had ended, and he didnt do anything to us. He didnt harbor terrorists. He didnt help terrorism. He had no hand in the attack on 9/11. Yet we still felt the need to attack him.

1. He DOES read well, you filthy-- ::Refrains from everything more::
2. You are WRONG. That is a LIE, Deceit, and Distortion that he never threatened to attack us. To quote the "59 Deceits in Fahrenheit 911" Report by David Kopel:
"41: MOore claims that the Saddam regime 'neveer threatened to attack the United States." In fact, in 1997 the regime publicly ordered: 'American and British intersts, embassies, and naval ships in the Arab region should be the targets of military operations and commando attacks by Arab political forces.' On the first anniversary of Spetember 11th, Saddam's regime called for suicide attacks on Americans." WRONG.
3.
Quote:
Seriously now, Saddam never attacked us.

Do we REALLY have to wait for him to attack us? If you think that we have to be attacked to go to war, than you are CRAZY. I thank God that you're not President.
4. We THOUGHT he had weapons. ALL intel pointed to that. We HAD to act.
5.
Quote:
He didnt help terrorism. He had no hand in the attack on 9/11. Yet we still felt the need to attack him.

As Ted Kennedy stated, "Lie after Lie after Lie."
Here's the truth:
He DID help terrorism.
To quote Kopel's report again:
"42. Moore claims that there was no connection between Iraq and al Qaeda. In fact, there is an extensive record of collaboration although--as the September 11 Commssion announced--there is no proof that Saddam participated beforehand in al Qaeda attacks on America."
He harbored terrorists like Zarqawi and gave them refuge. There were training camps in Iraq. How can you say that!!!?
And we HAD to attack him for defensive purposes.
Oh, and another quote from the Report:
"43: Fahrenheit shows Condoleezza Rice saying, 'Oh, indeed there is a tie between Iraq and what happend on 9/11.' The audience laughs derisively. Here is what Rice really said on Nov. 28, 2003:
'Oh, indeed there is a tie between Iraq and what happend on 9/11. It's not that Saddam Hussein was somehow himself and his regime involved in 9/11, but, if you think about what caused 9/11, it is the rise of ideologies of hatred that lead people to drive airplanes into buildings in New York. This is a great terrorist, international terrorist network that is determined to defeat freedom. It has perverted Islam from a peaceful religion into one in which they call on it for violence. And they're all linked. And Iraq is a central front because, if and when, and we will, we change the nature of Iraq to a place that is peaceful and democratic and prosperous in the heart of the Middle East, you will begin to change the Middle East..."
All true, and DO NOT LIE TO US!
