PostTue Sep 28, 2004 8:32 pm    CSI, CSI: Miami, CSI: New York

Well, woohoo! CSI is a great show. It's interesting, factual, sometimes funny, and there's always something new; I mean, how many different ways can you make a show about people who're murdered? But there's always something different. So far I've watched mostly CSI. I can't judge the other two, as I've only really seen one ep of CSI: Miami, and none of CSI: NY.

What does everybody else think?

I give CSI a big thumbs down. I tried to get into it and watch it, but it's 1) way too predictable and 2) really unrealistic. I've been to real crime labs and been mentored under real homicide detectives and CSI's a bunch of hooey. (IMO) (yes I know it's just a tv show and thereore doesn't have to be real, but I think they try to hard to be real, that's why it's dumb)

^ It might be unrealistic, but they have to make it appealing to the audience. The hard facts are correct mostly, and I think that's all that matters.

I love CSI! I think it's one of the coolest programmes, and I'm good at solving the cases. I'm not a huge fan of CSI: Miami, but I watch it because CSI isn't on NZ television at the moment, excep for re runs. We haven't got CSI: NY yet. But I have heard some people think it really sucks. I don't know, but I want to see it. I know that Marg Helgenberger said that it's now too much of a good thing. So I really don't know.

CSI: New York? I thought it was only two different CSI shows. Well, now I know about the third, and it has apperently not come to Norway yet, or I would had known of it sooner.
By the way, I love both CSI and CSI: Miami.

I only watch CSI: Miami. It think its great the way they show some things (like how a bullet goes through a person and injures organs.)

Plus the intro song ('won't get fooled again' by 'The Who') really fits.

CSI miami sucks
I hate that... guy. Horisio or whatever his name is. GAH! He's so annoying, and that stupid vioce... and all the stupid tings the say, espciaily in the end. He can say something like: "Just like the rabbits, he'll walk in the sunset" And I'm like "shut up, you don't have a clue what you are saying!"

And CSI is getting boreing IMO. And I allways knowwho've done it. (it's the guy the suspect in the beginning, but then they think it's someone else, but then in the end they'll come up with something and goes back to the first guy...) And the guy... you know he with the beard... he is just like Horisio, the only diffrence is that he do bugs as well...

I agree. The guy with the beard, you mean Grissom, is so much cooler than Horatio. I mean he has so much more personality. I think it's like comparing Kate Mulgrew's Janeway with Genvive Bujold's Janeway. They're completely different.

I think that the song "Why are you" by "The Who" is better, and that's the theme song of the origional CSI.

You know guys, I just realised. This is kind of like an argument over which is better: TOS, TNG, DS9, VOY or ENT.

^Yeah! Grissom!
I've seen that show for years and I still don't remember his name
And I Do like grissom, but...hm... well it's too much. He's boring. He was cool at first, but now he's just sad.
(great compareson btw )

Meh, I have to admit that yeah, sometimes it's just silly and unrealistic, but hey, it's still interesting,
I guess all shows are like that, though.

I don't agree. I think CSI has made the world of forensics way to hollywood-ized. A lot of it is so fake, especially the hard facts. Real hard fact #1, it takes years to figure out most of these crimes. cramming 1 or 2 into an hour is bogus.

Well, they wouldn't be able to have an episode that lasted for years, so that would be sillllllly,

Ew, eating while doing an post-mortem. I'm sure that after you get used to it, it wouldn't really make a difference,

No, they couldn't have it that long, but still. like... 24. that was a good show. like... hours were accounted for. anyway. I just don't like CSI. seriously.. it's so predictable! you can always tell who the actual offender or whoever is right when the CSIs first see them. it's so annoying

Bah it's the journey that's important, not the destination!

And knowing what's going to happen makes me feel smart, sheesh,

I thought that's what your friends were for,

But I agree, it's usually pretty obvious what happened, you're just watching it unravel. Still interesting, though, I think.

Not to nitpick, but I think the song was called: "Who are you?"

Too much of a good thing. Maybe.

The original CSI is one of the best shows on TV. The cast have chemistry and I believe that the characters are characters we can identify and empathize with.

CSI:Miami is good but it doesn't have the chemistry of it's predecessor. David Caruso carries the show and is good but, sorry, I don't think the supporting cast have any chemistry or much personality.

I shall give the NY version a chance but could we be suffereing from forensic overkill? Aside from the three CSI shows, there is Navy:NCIS which has a similar premise.

Interestingly enough, what about the Law and Order shows? The original Law and Order is a fantastic show, well-written and improving constantly. Law & Order:Special Victims Unit is also very, very good with great performances from all, superbly written stories and cracking plots. And what of Law & Order:Criminal Intent, a modern-day Columbo-esque show with excellent performances?

Spin-offs can work but a forensic science premise is not one that I think should be milked too much.

I'm only a fan of CSI: Las Vegas.

Oh, and my favourite pairing is Gil/Cath. They just look so cute together!

I love CSI Las Vegas only. Miami and New York are boring. Grissom is not boring. I love nick the most though.

((Sorry...teenage guy's mind at T.V. show rating hard at work here.))
