Thu Sep 09, 2004 11:39 pm Question about the Scifi network |
|
I'm not sure if this is where this topic belongs I had a hard time figureing it between this forum or Around the net. But heres my question.
Is it me or does the Scifi network start cool series show them for afew episodes than just let the series hang in obilivon? (SP) I mean I was starting to get into Tripping the Rift and they just stoped it. They haven't announced if its canned or what its just hanging there. I noticed this with alot of the shows they show. all they do most of the time is show marathons most of the weekdays and on weekends they show sci movies. I'm just currious if anyone has noticed this also. If you start a series you should continue through with it. I feel it is kind of a punch in the stomach if you start something and just leave everyone hanging.

thats what I'm talking about I don't mind them showing that show but do they have to show it 3 times on fridays? they have other great shows that they litterly have put on the back burner for no reason. There was one show they had I liked it was "The Crow: Stairway to heaven" they used to show that show regually once or twice a week than they stoped.

The Scifi Channel doesn't really have the budget of larger networks; the two Stargate series are taking up a large portion of it..
And the new Battlestar Galactica series in January is taking up most of what's left.
That said, Tripping the Rift will return. They just have to wait until more episodes can be made. Modeling and rendering 43 minutes of CGI isn't a fast process.
You're right, though-----far too many series get cancelled after just a few episodes. Wonderfalls and Firefly were two series that got that treatment by Fox.....not to mention Space: Above and Beyond, which Fox only gave one complete season.

Cancelled after one season, both.
SAAB was apparently too expensive and didn't pull in the ratings to justify renewal. Dunno about Earth 2.

I haven't seen Starhunter, but I'm told it was pretty bad in season 1. Of course, I'm also told season 2 was a big improvement.
I should probably catch it sometime.
