HOW MANY REPUBLICANS VERSUS DEMOCRATS ARE ON THIS SITE?
People who say that they are independent don't count, because then a large number of people would say that(most people I think want to think that they are independent.)
Most people(from my experience) lean one way or the other.

Not necessarily. Bill O'Reilly is DEFINITELY balanced, for instance.
But I'm a Republican, and all Republicans and Democrats on these forums will admit that if they are of it.

Definite Republican, and what's more, a conservative Republican.

Republican.
(I don't vote partisan, though.)
For those voting, how many can tell me what the difference is between the two parties? Or are we just "democrat" this election? (Same with Republicans.)

Supposed differences (Not necessarily all need apply):
Republicans:
Pro-Life
Anti-Gay Marriage
Pro-Tax Cuts
Pro-Religion (in public/government life)
Anti-Illigal immigration
Pro-taking the fight to those that wish to hurt us
Pro-Military
For small government
For capitalism
Democrats:
"Pro-Choice"
Pro-Gay Marriage
Anti-Tax Cuts
Anti religion (in government life)
Not necessarily pro-illigal immigration, but somewhat, in a way
Less Pro-Military
For large government
For a bit less than capitalism--tend to lead more socialist

Right there!
Of course it's one sided--as balanced as I can give it to you!

Democrat - democracy - main concern the people.
Republican - republic - main concern the country.
You can make the people happy for a few years, and let the country go to ruin. (Prime example, Bill Clinton). Or you can care for the country, and by association, care for the people.
I didn't mean their current ideologies.

Does one need to know the particulars of each party to be eligible to vote?

Unfortunately you are allowed to vote totally uninformed. I wish those people would just stay home.

Anyone who's turned on their television in the past year and a half is "informed".

I know someone who claims that she can "prove for a fact" that George W. Bush is the reason she lost her job.
She lost her job 4 years ago.
Bush has been president for 3.5. People like her shouldn't be allowed to vote. But then that would be an "infringement" on their rights.

Odly enough, T, that is correct. We as a democracy can not "infringe" as you say on their rights. It would cause an uprising, I am sure, that would tear us apart.

This going to be the first time I can vote too. Im a Republican. It sucks that people that don't even know whats going on can vote. People hear "Kerry is good and blah blah blah." So they run out to vote for him. Not knowing the big mistake coming with it. Sad....

Oh yes! On Hannity 2 weeks ago, he had his "man on the street interview" and he interviewed several every-day people. And guess what? Several of them didn't know who the Vice President was, and even believed Hannity when he jokingly agreed with some "rapper named Wolf" when he suggested that Kerry was "Jim Kernie." And he convinced two others EASILY that Edward's name is Stu Ped --get it?
Anyways, they could NOT answer ANY questions about what accomplishments and what things PERIOD Kerry did in his 19 years in the Senate. NOT ONE.

After reading that, I went out on my college and asked the same questions about Bush's accomplishments:
Results: Out of 10 random people
7 said the War in Iraq
2 said The War in afganistan
1 couldn't think of anything making a point that War is not an accomplishment.
When asking the same about Bill Clinton:
Results of another 10 random people eating dinner:
6 said the Monica Lewinsky trials, because it keeps getting brought up.
2 said the Lowest Unemployment rate
2 said The School-to-work program.
