Partial Birth Abortion Act Ban wrote:

(2) Rather than being an abortion procedure that is embraced by the medical community, particularly among physicians who routinely perform other abortion procedures, partial-birth abortion remains a disfavored procedure that is not only unnecessary to preserve the health of the mother, but in fact poses serious risks to the long-term health of women and in some circumstances, their lives. As a result, at least 27 States banned the procedure as did the United States Congress which voted to ban the procedure during the 104th, 105th, and 106th Congresses.

That was the reason it was banned, becasue it was a health risk to women. Since it's NOT a health risk to women (according to the judge), it's unconstitutional to keep the ban in place.

Well, it's NOT unconstitutional to ban it, but either way it's WRONG, and te act SHOULD be about it being murder--but of course we can't do that. It still does NOT change my view about the judge.

I have a question. The baby is already half way out. At the point it will just slide out, actually. No pushing from the mother needed when this abortion takes place. How, in any circumstance, is killing the baby going to save the mother? The quickest course of action would be to pull the baby out, cut the cord, and get to work.
If the only thing wrong is the wording, re-word it.

AGREED. The baby is out--what health risk could it pose to the mother if we didn't do such a thing? It's MURDER--BRUTAL murder. Hell, it's TORTURE.

I agree that abortion is wrong. Although I think that in cases of rape they should abort it. Im sorry but no one should birth a baby from that. Lets also be realistic. Yes, its wrong and they should have the baby but its hard to raise a child. I know you're going to say then put it up for adoption. Well sometimes mothers become attached and don't want to lose them. Although now they will lose their entire lives for the baby they have to keep for moral issues. I know I know. They shouldn't be making babies then if they can't handle it. Im just saying the situations are different. Abortions are wrong but the alternative while better because the baby lives will lead to a hard life. What if the father leaves the mother alone? What if her parents don't want to her around anymore because of what she did? Her friends have their own lives to live. She has no one now. She will live in poverty with the baby and the baby might grow up to commit crimes or just live in an alley. The alternitive isn't always easy....

What are you talking about? Its still a fetus at that point. How could it live? Also if you take it out prematurely and let it live, its going to have serious health issues. Then again it gets a chance at life and its worth it. No matter the health problems they deserve a chance to live.

You are incorrect there: The baby is NOT a fetus during Partial Birth abortion--it's a FULL BLOWN baby. Otherwise, I agree.

Yeah, it's most definitely a baby... Watch a video of one. Trust me, they can be found. The baby is halfway out, hence the term "partial birth". They break it's spine and/or neck, then they slice the sides, and yank out the kidneys, (apparently very valuable). All while the child is STILL ALIVE, which is why I agree with RM that it is torture, and of the worst sort, too. Then they have the courtesy to slice it's skull, and scramble, literally, it's brains. Real humane, eh? Makes you wonder about the bastard who first did this.

Oh ok. I thought it was still growing. Sorry about that T and RM. Thanks for clarifying.

Why can't they just change the wording of the ban and be done with it? It's a disgusting form of abortion, and should be banned, so I hope they (re)do it soon.

Agreed, I can not stand the thought of abortion on any level, as I stated earlier. It would ease my mind a little if they would just change the wording of the ban. The ban would still be in effect, but if dire needs to the womans health called for it, abortion would still be an option.

There was a case here recently that a mother had an abortion (the baby got pulled out or they induced labour) at 24 weeks. The baby survived though, and made a full recovery and is now living a health life.

I think the youngest baby to survive was born at about 21 weeks. It's very rare, but it can happen. That's part of the reason I disagree with abortions afteer 8 weeks (apart from certain circumstances).
