Should the U.S. allow voting in elections over the Internet?

like the question asks. Should the U.S. allow voting in elections over the Internet? Vote yes or no and state why.

I voted yes because this way could help people who have troubles and can't get out of the house or business.

I vote no, because then it would be easy to vote on the internet, and then go vote at the ballot.

No. I imagine an online system would be more susceptible to "mishaps".

No, people would find a way to vote more than once, especially with advanced computer skills.

I voted no. The idea is great, but its execution would be flawed. The Internet itself is a large, bloated wasteland, and my favourite place to be

But like the others have said, there are too many problems. Even if you they could isolate your identity through um . . . (I'm the ignorant, underage Canadian here), a cracker could always find a way into the system.

I remember the Dilbert episode where Dilbert had to make an Internet Voting System and his Pointy-Haired Boss got paid off by special interest groups. Everyone kept on trying to influence Dilbert into rigging the election, because since he created it he would have a backdoor into the system. Do you really think any human being, no matter how moral, could resist for long? The creators would be bribed, blackmailled--resistance is futile.

Voted no. Like other have said, the internet is to easily bypassed different ways. Someone could just hack into a system and change votes around.

Here here, no is the logical and obvious choice, first off, voting is a right, and it could easily be taken away on the internet, and also, it is a duty you need to take seriously and that everyone should 'go' and vote. If Internet voting were allowed, well gee it would be so easy you know, all I have to do for my country is serve in jury, pay taxes, and click a button. That doesn't sound right, you've earned the right to vote, and you can't get fired for voting so not enough time or can't miss work is 'not' an excuse, it's the United States of America for crying outloud, people shouldn't be that lazy, and they would be if that happened.

And then get arrested, obviously that was a rash statement. Voting sure is a right, and a right that should be not taken granted for. 'definitely' 'period' 'end' of story

I imagine it would be very difficult to regulate the voting that way, but it would be alot cheaper to run elections and it would also make the actual end result more representative of what the whole population thinks. So I voted yes.

I think they would simply accept one vote per social security number, if you are registered to vote. But I dont think this system will ever be in place.

As the other people have said, no. There would never be a fair result, and even if it was then someone would say it was hacked and so on. Good idea if it could work though.
