Border Terriers--ACTUALLY, Goldendoodles Details...

I am in a family of 5, and four of us want to get a dog. We have now gotten, at last, my mom to CONSIDER getting one, and that's a BIG step.
However, when my brohter and I spent 1 1/2 hours searching for the right dog, the only one that we really liked and that kept coming up in the top five for the Purina Breed Finder thing (we tried different answers to questions).
However, there are a few problems:
1. My sister has a gerbile which is in the basement
2. The dog would have to stay in the basement at ALL times except when outside
3. All five of us have school or work and other activities

These are problems because apparently the Border Terrier needs to be taken care of often, but I was wondering if anyone else here has or knows of/about Border Terriers--
if those things will be much of a problem, how the training could work, and all other important things about the Border Terriers.

You're thoughts will be GREATLY appreciated! (And please don't just say, "I like my Border Terrier."

border teriors are realy good but the do need much attention if no one can spend alot of time with it i wouldnt suguest getting that kind though they are very intelligent it would be very easy to train. its realy up to you. i would call a vet. and ask them their opinion

I dont know much about border terriors, but if your looking for a pet that dosent need constant attention Goldern Retrievrs are a good choice. I have one and it dosent need that much attention, just a walk in the morning and at night (possibly another during the day) and he is all set. My family is very active (school and work) so we are not at home much during the day and this system has worked out very well.

I had a golden retriever at one time. he was a strictly outside dog so he didn't really get very much attention or get to spend much time with humans... he was pretty miserable. We eventually had to give him away because he just needed to be around people. So if ur dog isn't going to be around people a whole lot, I wouldn't suggest a golden retriever.

As for Border Terriers... I haven't even heard of them so...

I was going to suggest a Golden Retriever too because I have one lol. How about a poodle? I don't particularly like them, but they don't shed. I'm not sure how much attention they need though.

Well, think for a second. If you're just going to leave the dog alone in your basement for 8 hours then it's probably not worth getting one at all man lol.

Get a beagle. There are some that don't shed, are very playful, and don't mind being left alone for several hours.

noooooooooo way i was going to suguest that but ours howls and howls if were not around i dont think your neighbors would like that luckly for us we have sone one around almost 24-7

Not all beagles shed. Just like not all beagles howl. Noopa will howl if you want him to, by playing with him, or singing WAY off-key,

A beagle too big? They come in several sizes... red tick, etc... Have Aaron post a pic of his. Noopa is bigger than Aarons, and still quite a small dog.
