STAR TREK AND THE WORLD TODAY--A COMPARISON
Give me your thoughts on what things in Star Trek and Today's world parallel, what are similar, etc, etc.

Well, obviously there's war in the real world and in the Trek world. That's a given.

One could draw a parallel between The Borg and religious fundamentalism (all religions). A good proportion of religious people that I know are good, wholesome people but you only ever hear about fundamentalists.
Going back in time slightly, the events of Star Trek VI paralleled what was happening in the Soviet Union and the end of the Cold War.
There are many other examples but I'll see what other people post.
