PostFri Aug 13, 2004 1:10 pm    Computer Trouble

For some reason my volume to my computer is not working.
I've used two sets of speakers and neither work.
I was wondering if any of you had any idea what I might be able to do to fix that. (I've already tried adjusting the volume on the computer itself, it did nothing)

1 have you made sure your speakers jack is plugged into the correct one?
((this may sound obvious but it could be whats wrong))
2 is the software installed?

1. It is plugged into the correct jack.
2. Software needs to be installed? Oh right! I hope I can find it...

Thanks a lot!

generally, when you install a new operating system you'll probably need to reinstall the sound drivers, graphics drivers, and other such items of software

Agreed. You also may check to see if the device itself is enabled in your hardware configuration.

At one point, the sound on my old computer stopped working. It turned out that the computer wasn't accepting the sound driver anymore.

Thats when you commit the $10 to getting a cheap little sound card. I bought some random one for $5, it works great.

Bah, it was the computer with everything wrong with it--it started with the sound driver, and then gradually spread to everything. We once booted it up, and it was missing every necessary driver and such.
