Does anybody know how much of the gamma quadrant was explored in DS9?
(Like in Light Years etc)

I think an extremely small amount by the Federation, considering they got shot at alot. But I imagine with the Dominion all in peace now, they would share their starmaps.

I agree with Defiant. Not much was explored because of the Dominion. The Dominion on the other hand controlled a nice amount of it. In light years probably just a few hundred.

I don't know if they ever mentioned how many light years were actually explored... but if you look at the star charts of "explored space" in ST, even parts of the AQ were a mystery...

Yeah. Every quadrant has yet to be fully explored.

Agreed. The quadrants are frikkin huge. I think the Federation knows of about 10% of the Alpha Quadrant, and they have explored TONS.

Phew, they have quite a long way to go. And they probably won't discover all of the alpha nor gamma, because it's just too large.

They have to make the quadrants huge cos otherwise they would run out of greek letters and have to call the left over space the omega quadrant, efectively, the end of the universe...

Our Galaxy is 90,000Ly across and voyager explored 40,000 well thats how far they traveled anyway and thats just in a basic straight line and the federation is 8,000Ly across so they have got a HELL of alot of exploring to do

Voyager didnt do *beep*. They went in a straight line for awhile, and stopped and every planet they could find.

Exactly they explored roughly 40,000 Ly in a line on there way home & Janeway made more first contacts than anyone in the federation.
But i think that the federation probably only explored at morst a sector f the gamma quadrant.
Now if they had sent and intrepid class through to the gamma quadrant then they could spend 1 1/2 years in the gamma quadrant exploring and then spend the next 1 1/2 years getting home...seeing as intrepid class ships are designed to run for 3 years without refeuling...well the warp cores anyway

That could be fun, but with the wormhole, im sure the area around it has already been covered. You would have to go way out there.

Well, they are in supposed peace. The Dominion could send out exploration convoys or something.

Yeah, except for all those big jumps they made along the way... For them to have explored 40,000 light years, they would've had to be travelling for roughly 40 years,

Yes, all the crazy, "hey, lets send you home more" things. Totally hated that when it happened.

lol, it was good when that happened but still they missed out on quite a bit when they made all those meraculouse jumps, but of well it got them home faster.

Bah, they could have stood a little more time out in the Delta quadrant. It would have been fun.
