Mon Aug 02, 2004 4:10 am One blood please... Can you bag that? |
|
Today I let a big woman in white clothes stick a unbelievable thick needle into my arm, to suck about 0.5litres of blood from my vein (or was it an artery...) And it was all Totally voluntary! "Why!" I hear you silently ask... why I'm superwoman, it's my job to save people in need! And you get a really cool bandage! AND a gift! Totally awesome, much better then christmas!
I have also registered myself in a register, where I agree that they'll take my organs for transplant/research... When I'm dead that is. Not like that Monty Python sketch where a man steps out of the fridge and starts to sing about the Milky Way...
Save lives. Donate blood

I never have and never will. Not that I don't want to,but there's a medical reason that none of my family can.

As soon as I turned 17, not 2 days after, I gave blood. It was at my school. Then when I was done with that, I gave blood again at my school. Then I started giving blood every time I could. I have given blood I think 3 - 4 times. Its a great feeling!
But you all know the real reason. I do it for the cookies.

You humans are so emotional.
I don't know if I'd ever be brave enough to give blood. I hate it when I cut myself so having a needle in...yuk!
But sometimes, I know it's necessary to save a life.

Yes, a constant blood shortage in the US. I am always willing to help. The needle isnt so bad, as long as I dont watch it go in. That would kill me. LOL.
I love after youre done, everyone lies down for awhile, or is dizzy. It doesnt bother me at all! I feel normal! I eat a cookie, get some punch, and go home when they let me.

No iron pills. We just do a mini exam to make sure we're ok, fill out a survey, get stuck, then go home.

I do not share my blood, I already am highly "scared" of the needles. If I knew it didn't hurt I might do it a few times.

I'm not old enough yet, but I probably would. The last time they had to draw blood, I held my breath the whole time, though. I nearly passed out, So I guess I should be fine, as long as I remember to breathe...

Here it's at 17. However, you can't give blood while your pregnant so I haven't done it yet (don't want all those pregnancy hormones scaring men who take pregnancy tests )
So I'm giving blood when Sammie turns 9 months (the soonest your allowed). And as Johny said above, I'm dragging him along too!
I'm also going on the bone marrow transplant list, in case I match someone and I can save their life. I'm already on the transplant register.

I do. I've only done it twice so far, but I figure it's my way of helping out the country, and other people, while I'm still at school, and stuff.
