Why wouldn't he rather give it to me?

An extra on VOY does not deserve Sisko's uniform! Oh well. At least they didn't give up his new uniform.

I agree gul.

Did anyone notice that Bashir is always late in uniform changes? In the first episode he was wearing a TNG uniform. Then in the episode where he was captured in the Dominin labor camp, he appears wearing the old DS9 uniforms. C'mon Doc keep up!

Our man Bashir keeps getting out of date, but who cares, just as long he keeps curing people!

Thats true.

I have a question. Was Worf a commander in DS9? He had a red uniform, but I always thought he was a Lt. commander. Am I wrong?

Yes, he is a Lt. Commander and was not promoted on DS9.

Oh. I thought Lt. commanders wore yellow. I guess I was wrong.

Just to clarify the misinformation, uniform color does not denote rank.

Actually they kinda do. How many captains in the DS9 era do you see wearin yellow? Or how many ensigns are wearing red? Catch my drift....

I thinks Founder's got a point. Because red is command, more captains have red. That sounds logical

Captains don't wear yellow because they're not in the Engineering/Security field, they're obviously always in the area of Command, in which red is worn. And you do see the lower ranks wearing red.

In the TNG episode "Lower Decks", you see an ensign wearing red. Also, Ensign Ro, and Wesley Crusher. And numerous female conn officers wore red, and they were all ensigns, for the most part at least.

Crewman Henley from the Voyager episode "Learning Curve" also wore red, and I can remember one specific background person wearing red on the Voyager Bridge - the woman who took one of Neelix's snacks in "The Cloud",

EDIT: Well it's been five hours since I made this post, and I got bored and watched some Voyager, In "Virtuoso" one of the crewman performing with Harry Kim is wearing red, and in "Relativity", one of the people the Doctor is treating for space sickness is in red as well.

You make good points but the standard or the norm, the uniforms do help differentiate rank. You will never see a doctor wearing red and a Captain wearing blue. Catch my drift? I think some cases its different as you've proven.

^ But that's completely a given because a Doctor is always Medical/Science (so therefore blue) and a Captain is always Command, so therefore red. It's the positions the colours show, not the ranks.

EDIT: OMG. A TYPO,

Phew.

Yeah, I think that too. So, this is the scoop:

The colours show the position of the crew AND the pips show the rank. As easy as that.

The colours of the uniforms show which section a crew member is in.

Red is the command section.
Blue is the medical/sciences section.
Gold is engineering/security/support services section.
