PostSun May 23, 2004 7:11 am    Patrick Stewart is a BUTT-HEAD!

Well, if a Star Trek fan is a Trekkie or Trekker, then is a Beavis and Butt-head fan a... Butt-head?

This is what hostess Star Jones wondered during Patrick Stewart's visit to The View, on Friday. Stewart admits to having an "addiction" to Beavis and Butt-head paraphernalia -- neckties, T-shirts, and videos that he watches "over and over and over again". Stewart also notes that his appearances on Sesame Street and The Simpsons were high points in his career, and that Shakespearean tongue-twisters are much easier for him than Star Trek lingo. He gives a thumbs-down to phone sex, preferring the "real thing."

Antonio Banderas had dropped by to talk of his "Puss in Boots" character in the new Shrek 2 feature animation, prompting Stewart's slide into animated gesticulation while speaking of voice-over work. Earlier in the show, a hostess quartet went to check up on Barbara Walters' statue at Madame Tussaud's wax museum in New York, where there also happens to be a paraffin Patrick Stewart. Barbara and Patrick exchange love sonnets, and scheme to have their bachelor waxworks get jiggy.

Does all this seem a bit odd for an interview with an elegant Englishman? The 411, the dish, the stranger-than-fiction facts are but a mouse-click away...

Patrick Stewart @ The View (transcript and screen captures)

I love Patrick Stewart. If any of you have seen the Canterville Ghost with Neve Campble in it, he's in it too. And the role of the Ghost just suits him!!! But some of the Star Trek Lingo is a bit confusing, and the Shakespearean stuff, in some parts, is easier to understand.

.

I am the exact opposite... I grew up in the Star Trek universe... I could probably survive if I were dropped into the middle of Engineering in 2372... Shakespeare is great, but sometimes it escapes my grasp...
